I'm in north orange county and been hitting a lot of beginner trails. Often with a Subi so it's not hard stuff but been really fun.

All of California national forest is closed due to the current fire. Lytle creek is closed because of the fire as well. Anyone know of any place easy trail in southern CA that is open?

    Damn,
I thought this was only up north. WTF. Had some friends running up Burns Canyon but that's been canceled.

They said it’s closed till 9/17/21. I’m assuming it’s open now?

edit: on 9/22/21, most National forest is open with fire use restriction.

I have not been on any mountain trails, so I can't confirm anything is open or closed.
There is plenty of open land in the desert area off the 15fwy. The trails are not exactly scenic, but it’s a great way to get some off-road practice.

Now that the weather is a little cooler, we should take the kids out.

I finally built up the courage (stupidity?) to explore my backyard trails solo. I think you guys would like it. The trails are not rocky like Lytle Creek. I found some challenging sections and very easy trails. A good balance for amateur and intermediate drivers.

No... I'm a little leery of meeting someone I've never met out at some trail head, especially if I have my child with me.
Thinking back to those craigslist jackings a few years back. Maybe the Off-roading community is more upstanding then that? I'm interested in getting out there though. Saturday mornings work well for us. earlier the better. I'm in Huntington Beach. Having difficulty finding out info on fire hazard closures??

I did a run with @PhotoDan before with my wife and kids. There’s nothing to worry about him. He’s a very friendly sexy handsome looking guy . HB isn’t too far from where I’m at, Anaheim. Since I have kids too, Saturday morning is perfect for me too. I checked and their website Said most National forest is open as of September 22 but has one restriction, which is fire usage.
