A little something every chance we get.
:pumpkin: Good afternoon SA! Haven't been to the F1 stuff at COTA, and would rather go to the next Indy event. F1 just doesn't have much racing. Son and I went to the Australian V8 Supercars the first year, and wandered the whole thing until we found some seats we liked. They now have enough video, if you are near a screen, you can have good seats most anywhere.

Slow start this AM - helping the wife bag up the Potato Vine out front so she should plant new plants. Yay. Can see my up lights on the wall again. I swear if you planted that stuff at one end of the the Sahara, and Kudzu on the other; the desert wouldn't last a month! She finished and I mulched it up and watered.

So, after the gardening, on to the Taco antenna mount. Remember I said I was "stupidly optimistic" or like that? "Stupid" is the right word. When the bezel nut came Thursday, I took a look at fitting it on to this stub.....

That wasn't going to happen. So, the interweb search, and actually ended up on a GREAT thread right back here on TW. Have to search for "antenna base removal", not "antenna removal". Seems every Taco in the world has these corroded things, and cutting them off is the only option. So, why doesn't it fall through the fender now? The answer is down here. Remove the mudflap and liner bolts.

Pry the liner back (disturbing some plastic holders I will get to later - I didn't break them), and down here at the bottom....

Remove that bolt, and out comes the base - after you cut the wire! Now that I am positive what it looks like, I can confidently order that too. Right?

Well, "fits your Tacoma" has this thing with TWO different wire ends; the banana plug you typically see on antenna wire, OR, some square connector. That square connector is, of course, in the passenger A pillar if I have it. So, clean and showered, back to the truck to check.

Yup, I have the one with the odd plug - gotta love Toyota. Ordered, and I can wait until my guy finishes out the paint to install everything, so to make it easy on him. And I will be using some silver anti-seize on that stupid assembly when I do!

But yesterday was a great day relaxing and watching college ball! Hook Em!

Dang, I'm happy with this round of reverse-sear world! Ribeye to split for us, smoked to 110* for about and hour, then let it set while I make the potatoes.

Then a quick minute per side at 700* - dang that's fun!

    Tender!

How come you didn't drill out the broken antenna piece?

:pumpkin: Good Morning SA! Back to the greenhouse roof lift today - decided on the other stuff yesterday, in favor of more clouds and open stores if I need something. That's the list for the day, after :pccoffee:/

My mast wasn't broken - it's in the garage. That stub was the remnant of the old mast and bezel nut. We did get the bezel off with vice grips. This is what happens with stamped steel mast parts, pot metal bezel base, and aluminum bezel nut. Drilling the remnant out would not have changed what I had to remove. That piece that sticks up, the cable, it's grommet, and the clips and connector are all ONE part.

Ok, make sense, stupid design indeed, I didn't know what ya had to deal/start with. I have drilled a few broken off antennas in the past, it sucks.
