Well right now I’m using the overland Georgia track, and kinda running through a bunch of YouTube videos.

I'm thinking about a goofy driving & hiking challenge. Do you guys know of anything similar in this area of the country?
I live in Northeast Georgia. I'm thinking of heading out early one AM to try and see how many state's highest peaks I can hit in 48 hours.
18 hours driving. 16 hours sleeping. 14 hours hiking.

    Depart work at 2pm Friday
    --1 hour drive--
    Georgia: Brasstown Bald
    --2 1/2 hour drive--
    Tennessee: Clingman's Dome
    --4 hour drive--
    Kentucky: Black Mountain
    --2 1/2 hour drive--
    Virginia: Mount Rogers
    --3 hour drive--
    North Carolina: Mount Mitchell
    --2 hour drive--
    South Carolina: Sassafras Mountian
    --2 hour drive home--

This sounds intense. Could be fun though.

I think I'd like to try to join depending on the obvious factors.

Anybody interested in planning either a family friendly or daddy/daughter camping trip weekend after next?

We're headed to Cheaha Mtn. next weekend. The place is usually crawling with kids. New playgrounds, a couple of hikes, great views. Great place to let the kids roam.

Normally I'd be down with my 3yo but we're about to welcome our second into the world so that recent trip to Winfield Scott was my last chance to go for a while.

I may be doing the Cohutta/Big Frog Loop Sat morning to get my feet wet. I've put it off for too long.

Also, request for anyone near Dahlonega:

Back twenty years ago, a group of us would occasionally go camping at a spot off Ga. 9 N of town. By my best recollection of the trips, the campsites were off TS Jarrard Rd./Pruitt Creek The pavement ended, then it was a dirt road/trail that had at least one creek crossing, and started to go up a mountain. Near the top, there was a gate that was always closed, which I think crossed into wildlife lands.

If anyone is bored and wants to check out if those are still open, I'd appreciate any reports.

Spent Sunday at Beasley Knob. Would love to go back some weekend if anyone is up for it. Seemed fairly dry, but it was my first time out there. Made it to the top of the knob and basically slid our way down the other side in some big ole buggy ruts. Also spent some time in the rock gardens at the base of 93B, first time I really wished I had lockers..

Yesterday was my birthday and I took off work today to go explore. I went up tray mountain rd today and came back down Corbin creek rd. It was the first time I drove corbin creek. The road itself was boring but there was some great places off of it. One campsite had some difficult wheeling passed. I went up it a ways and then quit and retreated. Then other campspots were right beside the creek. Really pretty places.

    October 9-10.

Who's down for a get together? Could be a trail ride, a brewery, a campout, or a mini-mod day. Of course, it could be a combination of some or all of those things.

I’ve been wanting to explore a few roads in Blairsville for the longest time. Have just been waiting on an excuse to do it. There is also a place called Granddaddy Mimms that gets good reviews. Just throwing that out there.
