Truck Priorities

K Guys, I need your help spending my money (I know everyone likes to help with things like this)

I have $500 to spend on my truck and its accumulating at $100 more per month.

What should I do first based on what I want?

-3" Lift (Can do in stages since I eventually would like OME coils, 5100 shocks, TC UCA, Rear AAL)
-For the lift, I really want to do it right so it works offroad

-In-dash navigation/mp3/ipod/bluetooth receiver (like the Kenwood 8120)

-Tires on stock wheels or wheels and tires (used might be better deal)

-Underbody armor (skid plates for front, gas tank, rear differential)

-Sliders or nerf bars (will nerf bars hold up to off road use?)

-Grill replacement

-Leather interior

IM SO CONFUSED!! I just want to get something for my truck. The lift, radio, tires, and skid plates are my priorities...

 

I'd do the Kenwood first. Then you can enjoy great tunes while you are saving up for the rest.

 

How do you use the truck?

Start with the lift. Following that get tires. Then go straight to skids and sliders. After that I would go for the other stuff like leather and an audio system.

 

I want to offroad real bad but my stock sport tires suck! I really need new tires before I feel comfortable offroading. I also need protection.

I wonder if I get the skids and new tires, if that will be good to start? Only thing is, I'll want bigger tires with a lift when I get it so I wonder...lol

Decisions Decisions

 

Do something right the first time. If you change your mind and keep buying. You end up spending a lot. You truck has new rims and tires on it. You can use that as money too when you sell it. I say save $$$ at first to lift and do the tire/wheel combination you really want.

Do the skid and sliders first.

 

Yep, if you really want to go offroading ASAP, get sliders and skids.

 

x3 Sliders and skids. Protect your investment. Even with stock tires, you'll be surprised what your truck can do. For ideas for armor you can check out:

X2 I never go anywhere without the stereo on, but I'm too cheep to upgrade unless the stock one breaks

 

also, you'll probably get more bang for your buck if you do skids and sliders first.

 

I would go with new tires first.

 

well the kenwood..its gonna run u 1000 bucks with navigation ipod and blue tooth...between 5 and 600 if u dont want navi ipod and blue

 

If it were me..... (and you forgot a couple things)

Sliders (nerf bars WILL NOT hold up to offroad abuse)
Underbody armor
Rear towpoint
Onboard air
Tow straps
fire extinguisher

You don't need no stinkin leather interior, in-dash navigation, or fancy schmancy grill. Save your money for the offroad stuff - lift, wheels & tires.

Then...you'll need to regear & lockers, front & rear bumpers, winch....

 

Why? So he can get to the places where he'll need the protection? And then have to buy them again when he lifts it?

Seriously though, unless there's snow or the stock tires are really bad I'd at least wait for the lift before getting tires so you can throw on larger ones.

Other than that, you want AT LEAST sliders if not skids too before off roading. I had some step bars and bent them the 1st or 2nd time offroading. The provided a little bit of protection at least, and I can only imagine if they hadn't been there. I only wish I'd done sliders in the first place instead. Especially since they suck as steps.

I meant if it were me, I would get tires, as I wouldn't be doing any crazy offroading and I wouldn't be getting a huge lift.

 

So you missed 2 of his main goals? Or the numerous posts about lifts prior to your's? Were you punk drosting again?

Anyway, as much as I hate the stock tires I would lift if before getting new ones unless it's gonna be a few months to a year and you'll need new tires by then anyway. That way you don't buy tires now, and 3 months later buy larger ones to go with the lift.
