Exactly. It does not mean Toyota is bad. It does bot mean Jeep is better. Some of these guys remind me of me when I was five.

As I pointed out in @Stocklocker 's thread, the Tacoma hasn't won since 2015 in its class and has placed third or fourth most years since. Toyota still ranks quite high overall (third I think) and Lexus is number one as a brand. None of this makes much of a difference. 4 years of ownership and other than regular maintenance my truck has been flawless. I owned a 2005 Corolla before this and in 8 years all I did was regular maintenance and brakes on it before I gave it to my father in law. It had 215,000kms of flawless driving and it still going with another 20,000kms. I got the JD Survey after I bought the truck. It got a flawless review from me.

Honestly, I hope the meaning it does hold for car companies and consumers can be a push for Toyota to maintain/improve quality in the needed areas rather than coast on their reputation. I love my truck but there are some areas it feels like they went cheap. When companies compete consumers win.

To me the biggest issue with their "research" is their incredibly narrow time-span of polling. Like everyone has said, who cares what happens the first 500miles (90 days)? Or even 3 years? That's only 36,000 miles for the average driver. Most real problems don't show up until over 80k, possibly as low as 60k if you want a grain. JD Power is an archaic system that only survives due to their brand - seemingly a more and more common trend in modern day.

Also, notably, I don't believe they call those who have sold their vehicle in the first 3 years, meaning if its gone due to a problem they didn't want to deal with, it will never be reported.
