Understudy Dave had a great time at Chris and Shannon's even though all he did was sit in that chair all night.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
I think you should look a few month out on the calendar, pencil in something you can cancel last minute, and have an overnight run. No libraries on the itinerary.

On another note: The Silverado kicked my butt this weekend. At what stage does working on vehicles get to be too much?

When you automatically start thinking, I should pay someone to do this bullshit.

    But that's just me.

What was the “mod” you were attempting to accomplish?

When you decide you can't stand getting up and down from under the car anymore and "need" a car lift.

Haven't quite made it to that. The few times I've taken a vehicle in for something I could do, the price shocks me and I realize how much money I save myself. Even with the fuck-ups.

This weekend's "mod" was rebuilding the front-end. Every rubber bushing or joint is toast on this thing from sitting. There's also rust on everything underneath the body. So I decided to replace the outer tie-rod ends, end links, and upper and lower ball joints. I bought a kit and started the disassembly. It's then that I realize that the lower ball joints are riveted into the control arm. And the kit didn't come with lower bushings either. And I was like hell no. Up to the parts store for loaded arms. Then I fought with getting the lower arms separated from the knuckle. On both sides. One side was somewhat easy. The other side not so much. To the point where I almost went and bought a new knuckle. The last pain in the butt was getting the lower arm mounted with the spring. Took two floor jacks and a lot of muscling around. Then at some point I decided to not re-use the old shocks and ordered new ones. Now the truck is riding around without shocks. It's hilarious.

I've been there for a long time. To the point I don't want to get up to grab tools. I'll make do with what's already on the floor. I keep trying to guilt the wife into buying me a lift. Hasn't worked yet.
