I guess if you want a factory warranty and an OEM grill on top of the shocks get this, if you just want a small lift get the 5100’s.

This. I have a 2021 SR5 and found the value (for me) to be adequate. The pro grill, the trd branded bilstein 5100s, and warranty. Also the fact I have no idea how to work on cars nor do I really know anyone that does... it was a win-win transaction for me.

I also didn't want an obnoxious or overly obvious lift that would require new springs, UCAs, etc.

I feel like you do, I probably wouldn’t pay $1450 for it but for $1055 I’m really considering it.

The Bilstein suspension feels leagues better than my stock SR5 suspension. And it gave me room to fit 17x7 TRD Pro Sema wheels with 275/70/17 Falken Wildpeaks on my truck.

For me, I'm satisfied with my rig.

So this factory kit are 5100s just colored red with a TRD sticker?

small lift? 5100s give you more settings than the re branded TRDs and Bilstein gives you a lifetime warranty. Everyone is so worried about their factory warranty, its not rocket science folks. Its just new shocks and struts with a little lift. Thousands of people are doing it and rarley any issues unless you screw it up yourself or at the hands of someone else.

Does anyone happen to know who may have 2 parking brake spacers and bolts in stock? Everywhere I have checked that show them in stock, seem to be on a national back order. Thanks!

I don't think everyone is realizing this is more than just struts and blocks. Is it cheap, no, but 5100 is struts and blocks and that's it for $400-$500. Takeaway the $400 grill, and sprinkle in the little other odds and ends in this kit and it's not that far off if your getting the TRD kit for a $1,100 price range.

You’re right it’s not rocket science yet you always read about issues that arise and like I said I don’t install lifts, I don’t know anyone that does I much rather have the dealer install it and it be covered in case there are problems, I’ve never had a lift before this is a learning process for me and I’m sure lots of others so if during this time it’s covered I learn from problems that may arise. I might not even like it lifted or I might and might want to upgrade down the road with more knowledge. And yes the 5100’s have more notches and is anyone using them for more than 2 inches of lift? My understanding is they are best used on bottom setting with new coils. Anyone using them on top settings?

Dealer said 4-5 hours so I’ll see. There aren’t too many shops around where I live that I know install lifts and I called one to get a quote on a 5100, new coils and AAL install and they said around 700-800. Seems to be very similar.

See if you can make friends with a tech at Toyota. I got a deal, got him to do it as a side job for $350 with tires put on and a alignment

I just went down this same rabbit hole researching and here’s my $.02

    A) PRICE- not bad at $1,055. The free shipping coupon code only covers $200 of the $300 freight charge so you’re still having to pay $100 plus tax for this “kit”. For me in CA it totals out to almost $1,300.

    B) SHOCKS- can be purchased stand alone for under $400, actually a bit cheaper than 5100s

    C) GRILL- it’s OEM (obviously) but it’s the all black lettering version which most people don’t realize and don’t like. To me, it looks like it hadn’t been painted yet and I’m not a fan. I wanted the OEM silver lettering. This black lettered OEM grill can be bought for $139 on Toyota distributors

This particular grill also has the hole and space for the front camera. If your truck doesn’t have a front camera, you have this odd blank spot on the top of your grill.

The garnish cover (TSS sensor cover discussed many times on this forum) is obviously a good deal here. This garnish sells for close to $300 and can’t be had for much cheaper.

    D) BLOCK- the rear 1” block to raise the back and the U-bolts can be purchased anywhere from $50-$150 from 100’s of retailers. It’s just a block of billet aluminum or steel

    E) EVERYTHING ELSE- the kit comes with fog light covers required by some states if you lift your vehicle. I’m assuming almost everyone would throw these away.

The kit comes with a new “Milliwave sensor” that is supposed to be recalibrated for a lifted truck. I can’t find any info anywhere that says this is different from the OEM sensor on the truck. Also, thousands of people lift their trucks and report no sensor issues. BUT this sensor can be purchased for $280 if you really want.

The rest is just nuts and bolts.

So if you wanted to buy the crucial parts of this kit separately (assuming you want the new sensor and pay top dollar for a rear block) you’d be close to $1400 and wouldn’t have the fog light covers or other little “odds and ends”

But if you buy the shocks from this kit and a 1” rear block (using $100) you’re at like $550.

    Same shocks = same lift.

You’d be paying almost $1,000 for a grill and sensor.

Then add labor for install. I was quoted $1,200 by my dealer. I found a guy on this forum that does work for members and he quoted me $400.

For me and my situation it’s a no brainer. I also already have a new grill and OEM garnish cover.

I get the appeal of dealer install, and warranty. It just comes down to your financial situation and how much that’s worth to you.

Hope this helps clear it up some

I understand everything you’re saying, local dealer has it at that price I can pick it up in person no shipping, I want the all black grill, bigger thing for me is dealer covered like I said my truck is new only 2k miles and everything being covered is the appeal to me. Actually even just got a text from a buddy who’s a manager at Toyota says he can get it for me even cheaper.

That's the way to go if you got a buddy working there, that's how I got mine. Left the dealership all in for under 2,500 with all parts, labor, and with KO2 tires

My truck has 500 miles lol. I feel you on the warranty. Do what’s best for you. Let us know how you like it when it’s done. I’m ordering the shocks today
