yep, will have to adapt my skid plate a tad bit, but it shouldn't be a big dealio. Also need to ditch my plastic bumper since thats really the limiting factor now lol

sorry OP for jacking some posts on your thread

what do you think of those Yokohamas?
I’ve been eyeballing these tires for a while. I’ve always found Yokes to run well on Yotas

You can still do it especially if you plan to build a skid to cover that radiator. But it’s probably the best idea to have the crossmember lower than the radiator

I’ve only put about 1k road miles on them. Let’s be honest - most guys (myself included) seem to think their current tires are the best tires ever made. That being said

    - they are great on road. No tracking or funny business or “excessive noise”
    - I have not even balanced them and they are mounted on steel beadlocks & I can drive 75mph on the freeway with 1 hand and no drama or vibes or shakes. They are a quality tire for sure. Can’t wait to run 6psi and crawl with them. My milestars were absolute garbage after about 8k miles

The yokes get some pretty good reviews. I've wheeled with a couple guys with them and they did pretty well. But our EC stuff is a lot different than yours

Yeah I’m not at all worried about their ability to grip and play offroad. I’m sure they’ll be great. I just ordered a 5th one for my spare which is great because prices are going through the roof for tires & steel and basically everything fun these days. I probably won’t replace the frame horns anytime soon, not for a long time. Pretty much everyone and their mom mounts massive bulky bumpers on those and they’re “fine” so I’m going to focus on all the other reinforcements for now. But mainly I need to set some time aside for tubbing the firewall. My “solid offroad” motor mounts are on the way soon too

The people that say they are fine have probably never done a hard winch or been tugged from the front. They are a major weak point. My passenger side one bent almost 40 degrees. I know a lot of people who have bent theirs. Do what you like, but you're there any way with a welder and grinder! Even just a gusset or two from the back would help a lot.

I know one guy who bend his whole bumper and front mounts down around 4" just from winching himself up a hill.

My plan was to box the outer front frame rails and then bring a piece at an angle to the edge of the outside of the horns. Or just use the 1/4” plates warfab sent me. Either way - FOR NOW this’ll do. I literally built this whole front end during nap time and bedtime. Life has been nutty. I’m a Charge Nurse on a covid cardiac unit. Lots of OT, and a growing family. I appreciate those stories and they’ll help encourage me to cut into the horns at some point

It's definitely motivating me to go build my bumper, I've been planning something very similar to yours for a long time but haven't had time to get into it, so I appreciate all the pictures

I have so many more pics so lmk if I can help in any way. I ended up welding lock nuts to the backside of the 2x2 crossmember so when I put my grade 8 bolts in there to sandwich the winch plate, crossmember and skid all in one, I won’t have to wrestle my hand back there. There’s barely enough room between the radiator and those welded lock nuts. I should have welded them INSIDE the crossmember but oh well. If I can do this with no prior welding experience during my kids nap time - you can too. I’m stoked to see it. I love your long bed. It’s such a rad truck. Love how you boys party up there in CANADA. Great stuff

I'm upgrading my truck between nurse shifts(flight nurse here) as well and nap times and bedtimes so I'm with you and keep up the good work and content truck is looking good been following on instagram as well. I did my ADD delete a few nights ago while my son slept, right after a shift and with poor lighting. FJ case goes in next!

I'm gonna tummy tuck this one kinda like the last one but gonna wait and see if that crossmember is gonna end up needing rear link mounts on it first.

Good to know actually, might need a hand just to make the FJ case swap quicker. much appreciated.

Tidied up some wiring & added the 4 grade8 bolts to the bumper. Sooooo solid. Speaking of solid, got these bad boys in today. No time to install yet
