Attempted to replace leaking gaskets on the exhaust. Stud on the crossover stripped when I was removing it. Vice grips heat was a no go, welding a nut in was no go. Now to completely remove the crossover so I can have better access to it. Any suggestions on removing? I've seen some have had success dropping the trans a bit, but others not.

Almost like your rack was made for those cabinets. Perfect fit lol

Why did you go with the BTF LCA's? They're super nice, but I don't see the advantage to choosing those over the solo motorsports one since they don't move the LBJ like the solo ones do

The wrap was on when i purchased the truck 4 years ago. I believe the wrap was originally installed 2015 by previous owner. As for the condition of the wrap, faded, scratched and lifting along some seems. All in all still good shape. I knew I would eventually remove it. Feels like unwrapping a new toy(ota). Removal has been straight forward, being my first time. Heat lamp, blow dryer and patience.

Little bit of lazy project progress has been made in free moments not spent at work or assembling other people's cars.

Almost ready to cut in the front hangers and weld it up. Need to lose about 2" of height but shouldn't be too hard.

After working around in circles I finally figured out my passenger side Jumper wire was off by one space. I tested out the drivers side confirmed that it worked and just assumed the passenger side was wired the same. One small mistake that could have easily been avoided but I guess that's a lesson learned as they say

So got pretty lucky these past couple of days. Finally sold some of my old 4th gen 4r parts can now add those funds to this build and start progressing quicker. Didn't expect to get either of these things this week while looking for some leaf springs for my boss's 98 single cab BUT, I came out with some unbelievably cheap come-ups. Our junkyard had 25% off all week and man did I get lucky. The top cost me $62 and the seats ran me $52! Both need some tlc but SHEEEESH! The camper had some crazy fungus on the outside so just a quick spray got it off. Deep clean this week and sourcing weather stripping and some struts and what not to clean her up.

Picked up some parts I ordered on Saturday

    IMG_20210928_122801.jpg

A smoke test performed on Saturday suggested that the fuel pipe sub assembly was leaking profusely so i ordered a replacement from the local dealer.

    IMG_20210928_133729.jpg

After installing the new one I cleared my CEL codes (P0441, P0442, and P0446) and went for a test drive, jumped on the Freeway for a couple miles, drive through town and out for a little Hwy cruise.
When I got home I removed the fuel cap hoping to hear it hiss but got nothing.

I rarely hear that hiss. It only happens for me after a long highway drive where I've used a substantial portion of the tank after a fill up.

The important thing is that the codes don't come back.

@Digiratus i appreciate the feedback. I didn't want to jump to a conclusion based on the absence of hissing however I thought it would be a good conformation that everything is sealed if it did.

Finally got around to changing the ac control bulbs to leds after searching for awhile on threads trying to find the right size base for the replacements. Ended up being neo4 4mm base leds from super bright leds website. I also changed out the OEM knobs to aftermarket 2nd gen knobs. Love the more updated look.

From Sunday, got the rack changed. Not a job I recommend doing in the rain, esp. when water pools in your work area, and your "tenty-thing" isn't big enough to cover the truck, hahaha. And don't trust the weather guessers - I was done by the time they said it would start raining.

Was glad to have watched Zane @Speedytech7 and Dan @drr do this to Mike's @Digiratus truck a couple years ago, made the whole thing seem rather more approachable. Thanks guys.

Looking forward to a write up on this one. I feel the aftermarket rack the PO of the 02 can only last so long.

Agree, knocking the foot off the rack always makes copious amounts of trash end up in my face and eyes.

I've done my rack twice now, and bushings on the rack another time, as well as replaced the hoses. I've done the PS pump about 4ish times (warranty replacements till I got the OEM one) and I will say working on the steering system on these trucks in general is annoying af. I wish we had a stronger option for our trucks.

In terms of accessibility, it could definitely be worse. I hear that it really sucks on a 2nd gen or FJ with it being basically in the middle of the subframe kinda boxed in.
