Yeah, I reached out to UTM and they squashed the idea of conversions and marking rounds, it looks like we’re probably gonna go paintball for war games and the civilian side of UTM for shoot house.

 

We’ve been getting quite a few lately, I’m not sure numbers but I’m pretty sure volume has increased as our compliance officer has been more pissy than usual.

They called the other week to trace a serial that wasn’t even a firearm and the item was still in the shop.

No. You would have to get certified though one of the sim companies to be able to get their conversions and munition.

It’s not illegal to own, it’s anyone’s guess why they limit it to agencies and training groups…however, they make bank on GSA purchases I can say for certain.

You’re assertion is correct. The only way to be good at gun fighting is to train force on force. You’ll find it is hardly relative to traditional flat range shooting.

In the event that you DO get certified, don’t play around with that shit and use the proper PPE correctly. I have two buddies, during two different decades of service that have gone blind in a eye because of sim rounds.

 

Man I may be paranoid but that almost sounds like trying to get an FFL to slip up so they have an excuse to come down on them. Can't imagine why else they would be checking serial numbers for something that hasn't turned up at a crime scene.

 

In the last couple months we've had an IOI show up twice asking for stuff that didn't exist only to go 'oops, wrong store' for one and 'oops, wrong serial number' for the other after walking around, talking to myself and management, and looking through the books at the supposed days he needed.

I know I'm making it sound like I work at some shady place to warrant that attention but I promise we aren't. I've only worked here a year and a half (been a customer for 13 years too) but in that time we've already had our books audited with nothing found and I drop everything to do traces or sales receipt checks. I even come in on my days off to do trace 'demands' or denial after the sale reporting.

I dunno, at least it's Friday I guess.

 

At the risk of getting too political for the mods I've heard that there is currently a push to reduce the number of FFLs and since there's not really a method to do that without passing new regulations extreme enforcement/oversight may be the strategy to revoke licenses or make FFLs decide it's not worth it. Unfortunately, like a lot of things the big guys have money to fight and the little guys get screwed.

 

FN 502’s came in today, gonna mock one up with the Osprey micro and probably a 508T on it to display and sell as a package.
