I’m not sure it’s a quality issue, I may have just worn them out. Both sets sounded great. The RF sound just as good though, and I have a different RF set in the 4runner that I like.

awesome build. you take great photos. i have an 06 prerunner lifted on 33s (255/80s) and use it mainly for camping and fire roads. Want to up the traction game to a true trac since I think my stock limited slip clutch pack is wearing out. would you still recommend this? arb is super expensive don't think i need a selectable locker. maybe someday i'll convert it to 4x4 and put one in the front. i really am starting to think about converting...

I kind of wish I installed ARB's front and rear, but the truetrac is fine for what I mostly do.

I highly recommend the 4x4 conversion if you want to keep the truck for a while. It is the best thing I have done.

Some people tell me it's pretty easy, others say it's a pain in the ass if you're not a gear head. I'm no gear head, but I change my own oil and sometimes brakes. General maintenance is no problem. But this seems like another level.

The hardest part was swapping the transmission, and I had never removed an auto before. The only special tool I needed was a transmission jack, or hydraulic table which I borrowed from work. Everything else was pretty easy, I only needed help holding the front diff in place to bolt it in. I had other vehicles to drive during the conversion, so I did not have to rush.

I installed my Archive Garage hammer hangers and crossbar this weekend. I used a 60 grit flap disc to grind the rivet heads off. Then I pried the hangers off with a 5 lb mini sledge and steel chisel. I used the flap disc again to grind the rivets flush with the frame and clean up a little bit of rust, then drilled out the rivets and painted. The crossbar is a really nice design. Overall the install wasn’t too bad, but the heat kicked my ass. I will drive it next weekend to experience the ride improvement.

Oh yea, I decided to get new wheels a few months ago. I hated the fake beadlock rings and backspacing on the BR6’s. Decided to get some Falcon Off-Road T2’s. The mud tires suck on long drives so I got Nitto Ridge Grappler 315/70r17, they are great so far.

Do it! The hardest part was swapping the transmission. Making a new trans crossmember and modifying the tcase shifter took some work, too, but everything else bolted up and was not very difficult.

I bought a ‘17 Powerstroke for work and love it. I can’t leave anything alone and installed a Readylift leveling kit with Bilstein 5100’s, Airlift bags, Hostile Sprocket 20x10 with 295/65r20 Ridge Grapplers, Morimoto headlights, DD fogs, Pusher intake kit, S&B 60 gallon fuel tank, and some other things. It is a beast.

I was close to selling the Tacoma, had a price agreed, but my woman got pissed and demands I keep it for our OBX trips. So I’m installing a Magnuson supercharger soon  to help it pull our camper to OBX. It is a Wolf Pup 16TS.

Thanks! The Tacoma is still in great shape, only 111k miles, and the frame is fairly clean

I am planning to use a 2.7 pulley on the magnuson supercharger, so I went ahead and installed an AEM 320lph fuel pump to keep up with demand. Dropping the tank was a PITA but I got it done, only issue was a rusted bolt on the rear strap, the welds broke on the captured nut but luckily I was able to fit a wrench in the bracket to get it out and replace it with SS.
