Good year DuraTrac ???

Hello Guys I tried doing a quick search but couldn't come up with the anwers I was looking for. I'm wanting to get the Goodyear Duratrac 265-75-16's for my stock height Tacoma.

1st question Am I going to run into any clearance issues running the slightly larger tire.

2nd One Store is trying to sell me a 6ply C rated Tire and another is trying to sell me a 10 ply E rated Tire. I do some Towing of a trailer from Time to time should I be going with the E rated Tire? What did everybody else that loves there duratracks go with?

 

you should not have any clearance issues with that size, its the max for a stock truck.
some may have run into slight rubbing at full lock backing up since the tread is so aggressive.
as for towing, I cant answer that question but it might be a good idea, for the extra protection to go with the 10ply. C rated is just fine for these trucks and provides a little softer ride than the 10ply ones.

 

I have E load because I have 18s and every size in 18 = E load. The ride is good but each tire weighs 50 lbs (275/65/18 - 32x11) I have not noticed any rougher ride than when I had 285/60/18 NTGs that were C load. I would say it depends on the size/weight of trailer you are towing would determine whether E load would be worthwhile as far as the pricing goes. The extra protection of 10 ply would be a bonus too I suppose.

 

Well I guess I may need to get out there and take the front mudflaps off before I go down there today, I hope it stops raining soon so I can get that taken care of.

 

I'm completely stock with these tires and have no rubbing issues what so ever. Not even at full turn. I have the C rated and towed a pop up camper (3500 lbs).

 

I have 265/70/17's, C-rated. No rubbage on the flaps when I had them on but they do rub the lower control arm at full turn in reverse.

 

did you remover your front mudflaps

 

I have these tires and they are fine. Next time post your questions about tires in the wheels and tires section.

 

I have Goodyear Wrangler RT/S 265-75-16's and have no rubbing no matter how I cut the wheel. Prob not as agressive as a Duratrac but I would think you would be fine. I still have most of my mudflaps too.

 

Stick with C ply. They will be all you need...

 

I have had the duratracks on my first and now my second gen Tacoma no rubbing issues and I tow a 5k trailer with no issues of rubbing there a great solid tire however a little load but who cares about road noise...

 

I'm at the tire store now. They sure do take their sweet time. It has already been over an hour. I used to work at a dealership in the parts department and they would have had this done in 20 - 30 minutes.

 

Ok So I got the New Tires and I have to say wow what a difference. I had 34.5k Miles on the original stock Tires so needless to say I was sliding all over the place on Dry pavement. I was scared to pull out into traffic sometimes because I knew if I needed to punch it I was going to break loose and not go anywhere. Since we have been having a lot of rain lately I have been freaken scared to even back out of the driveway. I'm not getting any Rubbing right now but i may still remove the front mud flaps because I'm worried there might be contact if the suspension is compressed doing things like off roading or ridding up a curb to get to the turn lane. One other note these Tires are significantly louder that the stockers. I have definately heard worse and don't find it offensive at all. All And all I'm very pleased. Although my bank account is not.

 

Oh yeah I never got it up over 50 but I was trying to run my speedo against my GPS and I think its a little more accurate!
