Picture of 6000k HID (headlights on only in this pic) This is with 35w ballasts, I have since went to 55w ballasts in headlights and 35w 6000k in fogs.

The color of the bulb ie. 5000k or 6000k has nothing to do with how they will fit. As long as you get the H4 for headlights (gen 2 taco) they will be a direct replacement. If you want to keep both hi/low beams you want to get a kit that will allow that. I have done a few HID instals on different vehicles, they were all fairly strait forward, the tacoma being one of the simpler ones. As for the wattage of the ballasts that are included in any HID kit, most common are 35w or 55w. I could go into a long explanation about how 35w vs 55w ballasts change the color of the bulb output. That is a different story. I have read some tacoma owners say that 55w ballasts can cause the bulb to get to hot and could damage your headlight housing. Furthermore, the 55w ballasts make the light output extremely annoying to other drivers on the road. I would definitely recommend sticking with 35w HIDs in the fog lights, but i have had a 55w HID kit in my headlights for a few months now and haven't had any problems. I did spend a fair amount of time adjusting them.

    4200-4500 has the most output.

    5K has a loss of 10% output

    6K has a loss of 25% output

I'm also new to this HID stuff and I'm
On ddmtuning to order some now and am not sure if I'm supposed to order the Adaptor cables, wiring harness, and mounting brackets? I will be going with the hi/lo 6000k bulbs if that helps. Also the same questions about 3000k fog light HIDs.

Do the fog lights need the mounting brackets too?
