In our local thread, theres a guy claiming a $2k Amazon "adv" bike is better/more fun than something name brand like a Yamaha Tenere 700.

Check your state requirements for getting a title and registering it for street use. One long distance rider friend of mine in VA bought one of those Chinese made 250cc ADV type bikes and it took him several trips to the DMV and jumping through quite a few hoops to put it on the road. With most of these there is no dealer network and you may have ot contact the manufacturer in China for parts when something breaks.

Any downsides that I’m missing to having the gas tank off the bike all winter? Storing it without it?

 

Run dry so carbs dont sit with fuel in them? Or drain carbs?

 

No carbs, FI. I want to tinker with the tank off my Chief this winter. It has a big dent in it anyway. Wondering if the bike sitting without it will be an issue. I’m no electronics or new bike stuff wizz. All my old bikes had carbs that hadn’t changed since the 80s pretty much ha.

 

Plug in battery to tender? Other than that you're good

Other than plugging it in, what else would you do for winter storage?

 

Rode the grom into work today and hit every red light on the way there. On the way home I was stuck behind every slow car super frustrating but it was still good to be on 2 wheels.

Going to be riding the SV650 tomorrow.

 

I always just change the oil, fill the tank, set the tires on some pads, throw a sheet over it, and plug it into a battery tender. But I've also never had a nice bike so I never cared if they were put away dirty or taken care off to well if I'm honest haha. Always had beater dual sports that I put away dirty and often didn't prep for winter at all.

 

Haha... Turns out, it is the Honda of Winston-Salem located in Clemmons, NC. I thought it looked familiar. Was just in there the other week to get one of my bikes inspected. One of the sales reps told me they started carrying Benelli because of supply chain issues at Honda.

When I found out about it, I searched for probably 3 hours trying to find a US distributor that had it in stock and could only find an alibaba listing where I'd have to buy a container of 20 bikes.
