I’d like to see what makes you think toyota branded Mobil one is different from regular Mobil 1?

It's literally well documented that Toyota subs out their oil and the OEM has more Zinc and Phosphorous. You can google the Blackstone reports I'm not going to hold your hand through this.

I didn't even say one is better, I merely asked you if you were finding the Toyota or M1 for $30. Get over yourself.

I was asking a question. I think you're the one who is worked up over an oil thread.

M1 meets all toyota specs. So yes it is the equivalent of using a different 265/70/16 tire that also meets the truck spec.

Picked up a load of Castrol in Oakland, CA one time. Waited in the plant break room while they loaded me up. Workers came in, and we got to talking. Among other things, they laughed and told me the only difference between their premium brand oil and the auto store house brand was bottles on the line.

If we’re gonna talk waste, throwing money into the marketing machine for labels on oil bottles would qualify in my book.

Buy a rated oil (like there’s such a thing as one that isn’t, practically speaking) and change it regularly. It’s a proven technique that works.

Why would you assume I can't afford it? I simply choose to follow the manufacturer's recommendation, just like you choose to do it more often. Oh and I did buy a bike....a Honda Goldwing...and I follow Honda's recommendation on oil change intervals for that one too. :hattip:

I used to put Amsoil in the Harley Electra Glide I owned up until a couple of years ago. Still sounded like a coffee can with bolts rattling in it. :notsure:

I tried it once in a high-mileage 4x4 I used to own after an Amsoil rep claimed that switching to Amsoil would solve an oil consumption problem I had. I even did the special 'flush' to clean any deposits out of the engine. That engine still burned a quart every 500-1,000 miles. After that I went back to whatever oil was on sale at my local auto parts store and drove it for another couple of years.

In the automotive engine's I care about which call for synthetic I run Mobil 1. My Taco and my GF's Highlander both seem to do well on it.

UOA's off BITOG shows Toyota oil is better. Has a bunch more anti-wear additives.

Oil change cost me $67.70 yesterday. Tire rotation done and they topped off a small portion of windshield wiper fluid.

The check engine light was reset (Diagnostics testing) and my next visit will be at 10K miles.

I was very happy with the Service Department's Customer Service.

I took ownership of my Tacoma in Easton, Maryland on May 14th. The dealership was recommended to me by a co-worker after I shied away from the local Toyota Sales Department.
