Actually, the whole truck was a gift from my dad back when I got my license; I paid for stuff like the stereo system, and I obviously pay for stuff like routine maintenance and insurance, but this is a "first car" that has held up well for over a decade. I plan on keeping this truck for many more years and saving up my own money to buy a house rather than taking a chunk out of my savings to put a down payment on a new vehicle; Getting a new frame has basically guaranteed that my truck is fit to be a daily driver for at least another decade!

In theory yes, plus add to the fact that ours are not desirable in this region because of 2WD..and in general being a regular cab. My suspicion is after the first gen buybacks that Toyota probably bought some kind of insurance to parry some of the actual cost..makes sense to me.

Mine was dropped off late April..I want to say 27th but it was that week. 2-3 weeks later the dealer contacted me stating it was approved and gave that similar timeframe. It probably arrived early July because I picked it up July 19 (the day they called). Trust me they probably want it over with ASAP, at least in my case they were paying for rentals every day.

Get some 5100's for your truck. I took my truck w/ new 5100's out wheeling last weekend for the 1st time and I was quite impressed with their performance, especially for the $$. Definitely kept me planted where I needed to be when getting up on the rocks & ruts.

I think I'm allowed to keep driving mine until the frame comes in because rental vehicles are in much shorter supply now..

And/or yours isn't as bad as mine was.

To make and cross-country ship the frame, 8 weeks minimum.

So, early December; At least they're gonna let me keep the Christmas lights on the truck if the frame doesn't come in before the last weekend in November...

They quoted me 8-12 weeks for it to arrive once they received approval. That could have changed of course, but I surmise minimally or not since we are 5 months apart from when I was at this stage.

I put a brand new pair of shoes on and hopped in my car this evening to go for a little drive. Got to the stop sign at the end of the street and needed to pull out quickly because of traffic, hadn't enough time to adjust to the new pair of shoes on the pedals and unintentionally set the rear tires completely ablaze and went sideways up the street all the way thru 1st gear.

I also got these hooks and chains at Spirit Halloween yesterday; I forgot to take a picture because the neighbors' kids came over to look at the truck and I got distracted talking to the neighbors...

It has officially been 12 years since my dad bought me this truck brand new to replace an aging Nissan Pathfinder that was originally supposed to be my first vehicle; I took my driver's test in this truck, and she's gotten me through college, three girlfriends, and five jobs (This does not include DoorDash, Uber Eats, various other side hustles I've had over the years, or my stint at Gross's Gourmet that only lasted a few hours). She is now in the process of getting me through a global pandemic!

In 12 years, the only two major repairs she's has needed are the replacement of the master cylinder and the evaporator core, in February 2014 and September 2018, respectively; One of the rear axle seals blew in 2019 if I remember correctly.

In October 2015, my truck sustained over two grand in damage at the hands of a drunk 70-year old man in a 2002 Mercedes E320; The drunk guy's Benz was totaled! Karma's a bitch! :luvya:

My truck burns a small amount of oil, but does not leak any; This was heavily alleviated when I switched to 10W30 high mileage formula earlier this year.

Less than a week before my truck's chance to get a new frame would have passed and I would have been royally screwed, my local dealership found perforation on the right side of the frame next to the catalytic converter; My truck was approved by Toyota Corporate for a new frame yesterday morning, and the new frame has been ordered!

So yeah, at 12 years old and with almost 140K on the clock, my truck is going to get a new lease on life, and ride and drive like a brand new truck!
