Jesus Christ I didn’t not expect the hardest part of this job to be removing the old gasket. I’ve been trying a plastic putty knife now and it doesn’t work either. Also if I ever can get the mating surface clean oil will not stop dripping down the corners, I can’t imagine that’s good for a new gasket.

I might have to try that tomorrow with a drill attachment. I don’t have air tools just an angle grinder and a drill. Thanks for the help again this sucks haha

Soak it in WD-40 for while before getting after it. Should help somewhat.

Can also try using brand new single edge razor blades . When new less chance of digging into the aluminum .

Do you have a random orbit sander?

If so, you could use some 180gr AlO2 paper. Just touch the edge of the paper to the gasket surface. Mind the disc rotation. Work with the rotation of the disc/paper to make contact on the inside of the gasket surface. This will discharge most of the debris to the outside of the gasket area.

Although, I would first quarantine the inside of the pan/engine with a bunch of shop rags.

Sometimes, you need to adapt the tools you have to do jobs the tool isn't designed to perform.

I said it last night but I will say it again thank you everyone for all the help! I ended up using a maroon scotch Brite pad and it cleaned up the gasket with minimal elbow grease. Super easy project just a pain to clean the old gasket. If this happens to anyone else I’d save a couple hundred dollars and do it yourself. If you have a die grinder if would be even easier. Thanks again everybody!

So one more question now. After filling back up with 5.5quarts of oil it’s barely on the dipstick. Did I drain/ drip more oil than that while the pan was off?

Put the full 6quarts in and doesn’t look like the level went up at all. Going to get more oil of course, but has anybody experienced this?

Shouldn't take that much more, maybe the aftermarket pan is deeper:notsure:

    Have you ran it yet?
