@tonered - Nope, can't find cuw.exe anywhere. Do I need to remove TS and re-install?

AV may have removed it? I don't think you managed to delete it, so my next thought would be AV.

I think so. There's no way to get it otherwise.

@tonered @ktbell444 - Hey all. When you say "AV may have removed it" what does that mean? What would you guys suggest I do as a next step? I know for sure I downloaded TS correctly, although I did install/uninstall/reinstall a few times (I don't remember why) before getting to where I am now. I wonder if that is the reason that CUW.exe is missing? Bottom line, I have what seems to be a working TS and my activation key is live (Ver 16.20.023, 4991d 00h 31m until subscription expiration).

And if I uninstall and re-install TS, can I re-use my activation key or will I need to get a new one?

I have had no antivirus issues with TS. For V14, we had to completely shut down all protection due to the key generator file. No issues afterward.

In your case, it wouldn't hurt to create an exception for the TS installation folder and try again.

Ok so the antivirus software may have prevented it from loading?

    So I need to:
    - Uninstall TS
    - Reinstall TS
    - Create an AV exception for the TS installation folder (will I be prompted to do that during install?)
    - Use same activation key

Is that correct? I use Avast Free AV and need to update it to Avast One Essential anyway. Would it make sense to remove the current AV, download TS and confirm that CUW.exe is there, then install the new AV?

    Check build thread!
What I did was completely shut down the anti-virus program while I used techstream- it was constantly fucking with it for me

    Reboot (restart computer)
    Completely uninstall
Remove all files and folders prior installs may have created
    Reboot again
Disable AV completely (should be an option to suspend or disable temporarily)
    Re-install

I don't have TS so can't answer the activation question.

Create the exception now. The software ID is likely to change so you will most likely need a new activation key.

From my perspective, Windows Defender / Windows Security is the best a/v program. It's free, already installed, and appears to do its job unobtrusively.

@tonered - How do I create an exception? I am in Avast and in Settings there is an option to "Add Exception." It then asks for a file path/folder path/URL. Do I use the following?

    upload_2021-9-30_8-8-31.jpg

I can also add an Advanced Exception which looks to allow me to browse to that exact location.

This to me seems that he's not looking at the .cuw file in the location it was downloaded to. He needs to go to his download folder and right click on a .cuw to see it's associations are set correctly as you initially stated.

The exception should be C:\Program Files (x86)\Toyota Diagnostics\
You want that entire folder to be ignored

Yes. You're creating an exception for that folder. While your there, create one for the vFTuner folder also.

Edit: Oops! What @Saeros said. Create an exception for the whole installation folder, not just the CUW folder.

There is no CUW.exe in his installation folder to point to. The a/v may have chewed it up.

I'm just curious... What if they went to his download folder, would it not be there? We're all assuming they downloaded it to the .dll folder for the actual calibration updater.

OK so here's what I've done:

    1. Removed Avast AV
    2. Gone into Windows Security and added exceptions for the following folders:
    - vF Tuner
    - vF Tuner Pro
    - Toyota Diagnostics

    Next up:
    - Uninstall TS?
    - Re-install TS?
    - Go to the Calibration Update Wizard folder and verify that "CUW.exe" in in there?
    - Obtain new Activation Key & apply to new software?

    Look right?

The CUW was on his desktop and he was launching it as an executable. The file association was set to PDF for some reason. When he check the TS installation folders, the CUW.exe Update Wizard program was missing. The actual program, not the 04B04.cuw file.

The CUW.exe will not magically appear. You have to reinstall TS.
