But also...supercharger, heavy 33s, steel front/rear bumpers, sliders, bed rack...she's a little fat so I don't think its too far out of what I should expect. Plus I mostly commute around town these days and those short trips don't do me any favors there.

The bright side to those short trips is that a tank will last me a couple weeks usually, so even though I'm having to fill up with 91 at nearly $70/tank a couple times a month, it's not so bad.

If I were doing wheeling trips every weekend like I used to then I'd be paying a thousand dollars a month in gas probably lol. Shits gotten so expensive out here.

235/75/15 with 4.30s. Oem on mine was 225/75/15 but they were bigger on the 01 -04 I think.

Gonna go a bit taller next time so it’s a little less desperate sounding on the interstate.

Speedo is off by about 7%, but the odo seems accurate.

I thought the 98s got even smaller tires, 28 or 29s? I might be wrong. I thought 31s were the stock size for the later year 1st gens.

With 33s my speedometer is barely off, when I compare it to GPS its usually almost right on unless I'm going highway speeds. Then it's maybe 3 or 4 mph off.

Yeah that makes sense. Tall tires and relatively tall gears will kill you around town.

I felt bad filling up my rental Corolla out there.. And I wasn’t even paying!

I put 91 in my wife's Rav4 the other day when we stopped, out of habit. Was kicking myself for it

Mine has the 225/75r15 door jamb sticker, but I was under the impression that all 1st gens had that regardless of the tire size they actually rolled off the lot with?

That I wouldn't know, I just know that Toyota did all kinds of weird combinations with the 1st gens over their 10 year span so it's hard to say haha.

I wouldn't be surprised if it came with smaller tires. According to the dash, 5th gear at 55mph is just shy of 2000rpm, which feels sluggish. My Civic is around 2200rpm under the same conditions, iirc, and that feels much more normal.

Of course all those numbers are slightly wrong if the tire size did change.

Anyway, I'm jealous of @0xDEADBEEF 's 4.30 gears. I bet that truck feels positively zippy compared to mine.

Icon did end up changing the top hats because they were prone to failure, on 2nd/3rd gens anyway...but I bet he got his warranty denied because of all that preload

That is a shit ton of preload unless he's running shorter springs. Probably feels like riding in a wagon from the Oregon trail

The consensus was that he was using them more as a bumpstop than spring

Dropped off my window pane to be fixed. Gonna have them do 1/4" laminated glass just like a windshield to stop another brick. Wont be insulated anymore, but whatever.

Also measured for the discreet bars I plan on installing.
