What they used for my post holes. Only it was a stand behind type. Had a platform to stand on while maneuvering

this irrigation line ( not a good angle for this pic) had two heads on it. Needs to be buried again. Wife doesn’t want to look at it and wants me to pay $90/ hr plus the $90 to winterize the lines. I’m like …..:jerkoff: also have another head on other side that needs to be buried as well. This one is dead ended and you need to unbury like 5’ of pipe reposition it . Really easy work and I refuse to pay anybody for that service. Fuck that noise….

hopefully I can feel well enough by ,say, mid November, I will give it a try

    :fistbump:

I grew up on a farm and like to feel somewhat self-sufficient, prepared...for me it's mostly no more than that.

There are still supply chain problems in the economy at the present time.
Mrs Gritto tells me after every grocery store trip about certain things being temporarily out.
She keeps a close eye on such things.

My (paternal) grandparents actually were self-sufficient.
They had draft horses, had no electricity, no indoor plumbing... there was very little they had to buy if it came to it.
My grandmother even had a spinning wheel and a loom.
    No, they weren't Amish.
But it's instructive to remember that only a few generations back, very many people lived that way.
    Think about that a moment.

Anyway, that way of life started on the way out when my Father took over the farm.
Nevertheless, very little food we ate came from the grocery store.

Did not care for it. :anonymous: Way too intense on the peanut butter.

Took one sip and gave it to the gal. She likes it.

Random: battery needs a little top off from storage. Damn camper radio has insane range. Even while hanging in the house it keeps pestering my phone for Bluetooth.

So, the neighbor sees the little girl next door out in the backyard, digging a hole. He goes over…

    “What’cha doin’?”

    “Diggin’ a hole”

“I can see that. Why are you diggin’ a hole?”

    “To bury my goldfish”

“That’s a pretty big hole for a goldfish”

    “He’s inside your fuckin’ cat”

My grandparents were a similar way. My grandmother swore to herself that she had wrung her last chicken the day she got married. It was store-bought meat from there on out.

I used to love hearing their stories. True American nomads, they followed the construction work. Lived in 38 states, worked in 49 plus Bahamas, Guam, Zimbabwe, and a few others. By the time the vertical assembly building at Cape Canaveral was going up, grandad had made foreman. By the time the Trans Alaskan pipeline reached the Valdez terminal, he was project manager. A far stretch from their post-depression days of picking vegetables and finding kindling for dinner.

Grandma always said she knew it was a bad day at work when she heard the car roar up, the tool box hit the ground, and the house lowered onto the hitch of their Roadmaster.
