    I only smoked cigarettes for a few years, in the Army. Back in the late 80's, I was buying an entire carton at the base PX for $3..... three dollars...... today in the People's Republik of Kalifornia, they are right around $100 - $110/carton.

    When I started college in Virginia (1975), they were as low as 26 cents a pack in the grocery, 50 cents from a vending machine.

    I'm kinda conflicted about it.

    On the one hand, cigarettes are so expensive that many young people will be deterred from starting.
    On the other hand, we were told that the massive tax increases were to help fund health care...:rolleyes:
