Has anybody else had trouble shifting between 2hi and 4hi? Its pretty much impossible when I'm moving even w/ my ADD engaged, and when I'm stopped I can only get it in 4hi from 2hi when the truck is in neutral. I can't get back into 2wd without shifting back and forth between drive and reverse.

Shifts between 4hi and 4lo are silky smooth though...

Can't say I've experienced this. Sometimes I have trouble shifting between 2hi and 4hi if I'm stopped and things aren't quite meshed up. I find it easiest to switch while moving and foot off the gas.

Like it shifts but doesnt feel like its engaging? Mine does that. It just all has to line up and then it will engage. Or are you saying you cant even move the stick into place?

I would cut it off flush and thread something like this into the box. Did this on one of my T100's vacuum hoses and it was there for years without an issue.

A little replacement brass nipple might do the trick.

So I bought a fj tcase but it didn’t have a shifter assembly.

I thought I read that all chain driven transfer cases uses the same base pattern and found a 98 taco one. But the 98 taco one came and it has a different bolt pattern.

I am going to cut and weld the shift lever and was wondering if the 98 taco one would work in a fj retainer sub assembly so that I don’t have to locate one. Planing to buy the sub assembly retainer new.

also has anyone one cut off the bottom of the shift lever to extend it and make it a shorter throw. By how ever much it is extended then a spacer would need to be made which is easy. Would make fitting next to the auto transmission shift lever coin pocket easier.

Long shot but if someone has a tcase shifter that is not needed then I would be interested

    thanks

This might help as a reference point on the short throw spacer and extension.

thanks for the info. I plan to cut/extend/tig weld mines. I hope there is enough clearance between the tunnel and top of tcase to do so since it seem more geared towards body lifts.

So my buddy Conner at 12th State Offroad was asking me if I knew anyone needing an ADD actuator harness. They make them and sell them right now he's got like 6 ready to rock and roll and ship next day. Hit them up you want one. They're good dudes and I'll vouch for their work and communication. They built my custom set of sliders. Tell them Skip sent ya and they might charge you extra
This works for those wanting to convert to 4wd or just swap to an FJ case if you don't want to have to make one yourself. If you got any questions about the products hit them up.

Nipple broke on the housing for vent hose and allowed water to get in there.

Yup, seen a lot of fellas reporting that from occurring. The guy the used the awd 4runner drivetrain to convert his pre runner to awd had that same issue and he posted the pictures of the process and part no.’s if I’m correct. Cheers bro

Here I was thinking the fun part was removing the ADD, 4WD ECU and cutting a hole in the floor.
