How are you fixing the drivetrain issue for 40’s? I’m sure 37’s are already straining it pretty bad.

Which drivetrain issue are you thinking of?

the whole drivetrain, to be fair I see you have 934 but still diffs r/p gonna suffer transmission and t cases I’ve seen busted before. Tacoma drivetrains were t meant for that kind of load. Most people who have 40’s have gear reduction for them to wheel on them. Then again I’m not sure your intended use so maybe you could get away with it. I just know for me it wouldn’t be possible without so series driveline improvements.

Don't want to muddle up the GB thread, happy to discuss in my build thread! but I wouldn't do 40's until swapping to a 9" rear end, and I would be doing dual cases as well. Already have JD's 934's in the front. I also have a custom driveshaft already as well, though I would have to get it shortened for the second case. 40s are dumb, I know, but also... 40s. I also don't drive with a lead foot.

So I got a PM about 37s as well as this debate here and some questions were asked about them in the BS thread.

37s could fit with these you'll be limiting the amount forward you can push the tire there was one that they tested it on I'm pretty sure. You're still gonna have to tub the mess out of the firewall. This is a good starting point but depending on your set up with wheel, suspension (LT or not) etc, you may end up needing to modify these some too fit. If you look at the photos with the stuffed 35s there's quite a bit of room still with them.

My take/plan: I was always going to go big or go home, 37s definitely for me. I'm still getting a set. I see these as not only a great Harry did most of the tubbing work but also a a huge strengthening for the front clip. This isn't meant to sell anyone but also give my perspective on these as well. I'd have more time and effort into hacking out the old then building something from scrap to have the strength as these and not look as aesthetically pleasing even with some modification. Also look closely the tub is bolted in now. So now you can cut the outer part higher make bend new mounting tabs and just modify the wheel tub a bit to fit the new higher cut. That seems a lot easier to me. The front section well we have headlights to worry but it's relatively flat so making a little piece that can weld into this piece and look nice would be pretty simple. To me I think these can be modified and still look really nice and a lot nicer than anything I could come up with to fit bigger than 35s.

100% agreed. If I hadn't already tubbed a year ago, this is the way to go for sure! Soooo much better! But I already did tub, so now I need to decide if the strength and aesthetics are enough of a selling point for me. I sure wish these had been released before I tubbed. Life would have been way easier

Well you said also that it'd help convince customers to use them as a billboard of sorts. I don't see the negative other than you're trashing work you already did.

No negative at all except that it's money I could use for a new rear axle instead. That's the only thing I'm debating
