    I have a 97 Taco extra cab and I was looking at upgrading my sound system. I don’t really know what would be the best way to go with it besides the obvious of upgrading the stock speakers, kind of wondering a good brand to go with and if I should get a small sub or not worry about it. I do want bass that I can feel but I don’t need something that is going to shake the car next to me. I will also for sure be getting a new stereo since I still have the stock one. So anyways let me know what you think and or just tell me what you got in yours.

    Welcome to TW! :hattip::wave:

    Pioneer or Alpine for the head unit; I have a JBL GTO component speaker system that's over three years old and I've been satisfied with it...

    I also have a Kicker 8" Hideaway subwoofer (with built-in amp) and Rockford Fosgate Prime external amp powering the aforementioned JBL speakers. I have a regular cab, so I was limited on the size of subwoofer I could use, but you have an extra cab so you could probably fit up to a 12" in there!

    Yes I was looking at jbl sub, pretty sure it was 10.5” and I think it would slide right under my drivers seat. Pioneer seems like a good value head unit as well.

    You want a backup camera? I've got a double-DIN touch screen head unit with a backup camera in my truck.

    I personally don’t care to have a backup camera, though they are nice to have, I don’t really need it.

    Almost any speakers you buy are going to be better than the stock ones. I've got Infinity in the front and Pioneers in the rear, happy with both.

    I'd take a lot of measurements before you buy a sub for under the seat, there isn't a ton of clearance. I've got this sub on top of the rear jump seat,

    It makes good sound but I wish I had a 12" in a bigger enclosure at times.

    [EDIT] Definitely worth installing some sound dampening material in your doors while you're replacing the speakers.
