Fitting 35’s with minimal trimming NOW ADDING LONG TRAVEL AND 934 CV’s

Just wanted to update everyone... I just did the spring under kit on a long bed and will say it’s an easier job than the short bed. Also the gas fill relocation that the kits come with works better on a long bed vs the short bed

 

I may never financially recover from the last two pages of updates.

 

Interested to see the bed cutout/cover plate for the sua Dclb kit.

Truck will sit lower with an OE shock though right ? IE: you will just have to put some pre load into the equation to maintain ride height with an OE CO being a shorter static length

On that Camburg kit it looks like they pulled the CO tab on the LCA way in to accommodate the OE length CO = oe length only and shorter travel permanently

 

Yeah, or sacrifice travel with a longer rod end. After switching to some 2.5x8s, I feel like my ext-travel icons have a rod end a mile long.

 

Depending on timeline of my new co arriving that was the plan for me. Just put in a stock set of billies from a truck to have mine mobile to move it out of the shop. Not to wheel or probably even drive around but to be a roller.

 

For those curious, a side by side of the 8” coilover the +2.25 kit uses and extended length king. When I first laid them next to each other, I was honestly surprised at the similar length. Pair that with the fact the +2.25 kit only uses about 6.2” of stroke, that’s not far off of stroke of the ext king which is like 1/2” less than that IIRC.

I wish I would’ve cycled with my oem king out of curiosity but I figured it would receive backlash for even suggesting not using an LT coilover.

 

We'll let Harry give out the final info of course but I'm a certified internet expert so I'll just say - I'm pretty sure that with a non adjustable OE billie you'd be a serious low rider, probably need a top plate spacer because I'm pretty sure that the static length of an OE shock is shorter than an 8"

 

Our kit is different because of how high the coilover fits up into the stock bucket. With the OE shocks they sit below the bucket so the ride height will be very similar

 

holy shit I was right ! I knew that internet offroad expert degree I paid for was worth it ! So, it looks like you would have to crank down a couple inches of pre load to maintain ride height with an OE length CO

 

They won’t work as the lower shock spacing is too wide. The OE king/fox uses 1.5” misalignment spacers so you would have to swap to 1.25. You can’t do this with bilsteins

 

Time to put the Bilsteins on the mill

 

Actually you failed because the shocks don’t mount in the same spots

 

Alright smarty pants - I'll bet you that even with the different top plate the OE length CO still has a static length -1" shorter than an 8" which will drop the truck almost 2".

If I win you sand all the fiberglass next weekend...

I must've placed my upper mounts too far back because my neck didn't have enough slack to get back to stock location. I'll just have to extend it. I'm 14.5" IIRC from the furthest back part of the cab (those little bosses) to the top of the shock bracket.

 

Are the upper shock bolts 17.5” forward of the centerline of the axle at full bump like we discussed? I did it on this one and everything fit perfect
