So the hubs work differently in the rear? Didn't know that. Learn something new. Figure it would be bad to roll it, but not just lower it.

Correct, our fronts would be similar to a full float axle. In a full float, you could simply slide the axle shaft out and be on your way if you were to break it off-road.

Lowering nicks truck down on its weight, idk if that would damage anything. But knowing nicks track record as well as the cost to replace rear wheel bearings, he should play it safe.

47592363-196E-4B14-9A85-725C157AE2A1.jpg Ugh, I was just under the hood and I noticed that the CAI cover wasn’t 100% sealed. Towards the back right it wasn’t pushed snug to the clips and you could see maybe 1/4 or 1/8 inch of the red filter trim. I had taken it to jiffy lube and they always take the damn filter out to try to up charge me and didn’t put it back properly. Any thoughts on if this could had done any damage or am I being paranoid? Since the oil change I have almost been exclusively on paved roads with little dirt. Here is a stock picture of the air intake properly seated for reference above.

Don’t roast for going to jiffy lube or having the CAI :)

Yeah. Off the Silverado. Maybe I'll save them for the Tacoma.

For me, personally, the T700 was too big to do dirt bike stuff.... it was a fantastic road bike though (although the OEM seat sucked).

I drove 3 hours to Tyrone, PA to pick my T7 up for MSRP ($9995).... put 1,500 miles on it and sold it for $12,000 locally (granted I put about $1200 of accessories on it) so I call it a net break even.

for me, I wanted a bike that was street legal, but was lightweight enough to do single track trails and flat track all w/ a pricepoint that I wasnt scared of thrashing it.... I've got 300 miles on the little Hawk 250 DLX and couldnt be happier with it

However, if you want more of a "road orientated" dual sport bike.... for $5k, I think the CSC RX4 (450cc) is the best bang for your buck

    https://cscmotorcycles.com/2021-rx4-adventure/

turn-key ADV bike that you can ride all day on the highway.

    Thanks for the reply..

an ADV bike for me will not see proper use as an ADV Bike, hence the more dirt oriented 300 series. I could go back to the DRZ but want to change up this time around. I have no problem trailering the scooter to the hills for an all day ride. Done it many a time before.

yep, I totally get that. same reason I got rid of the T7

I may end up adding an Orion RXB 250 at some point just for fun.... but the thought of a carb scares me to death. haha I have no clue how to work on them since I didnt grow up riding

They're not at all bad. And you shouldn't have to do any messing with it. Maybe adjust a mixture screw. And jet kits are super easy too.

Sucking a little unfiltered air through a 1/4" gap isn't going to do any damage to the cylinders unless you were hooning in the dunes.

Jiffy Lube, damn. Do you play Russian roulette with barbers too? Fortunately a bad haircut only lasts a month or two. A shaitty maintenance job can last the rest of your truck ownership. I understand that there are some quick lube places with versed/skilled staff.. but I do not think it is the norm.

so I’ve been on the fence about changing it myself because I want the service record. I change the oil myself in my other cars but they’re old and have accidents on the title so I don’t really care. If you all change your oil, how do you best document it to prove you changed it? I’ve heard people ripping a piece of the filter box off and writing the mileage and date… seems compelling enough in a private sale at least…

Edit: it was probably like that for a couple thousand miles too

I’ve never been to the dunes, but mine could probably suck a squirrel through a 1/4 gap.

I was told to keep my receipts showing oil and filter purchases since they are dated.

dont you have to jet according to altitude? and tuning it sounds like a nightmare, changing out main jets vs pilot jets etc.. sounds like a chore. haha

I do all of my own maintenance / repairs and I just use the "AUTOsist" app on my phone... allows for a photo upload (receipt) and a description of what you did for all service records so you can easily access it anytime.... never had a dealer complain (gotten quite a few compliments about organization and level of detail)

Yes and no. Hopefully there's a kit floating around where someone has already done all the work.

that's the problem w/ chinese bikes.... they arent as common / popular as japanese bikes... so you'll have an idea where to start, but will have to fine-tune it yourself

Had some fun fixing the common gravel road today...the first few passes were rough and very slow, but the next few passes were much easier going.
