Just got done camping on the Olympic Peninsula (night 52) in some pretty serious PNW rain. Had water coming in through the ceiling around the extrusion, not a ton but enough to drip down onto the mattress. I think this is because the composite ceiling "floats" within the extrusion - feedback sent to SP, but I'm sure it could be fixed with some RTV around the roof line.

Rear window (glass) was leaking around the rubber seal, nothing serious but enough to be annoying. Had the same issue on the front window over the summer and SP replaced it with plastic - so far the plastic has been totally better and not leaked at all. I presume the glass might be harder to seat/seal when going over washboards/etc. Once again, I could prob fix it with some RTV but I'd rather have the produce improve for everyone, I'll have it swapped next time I'm in Portland.

Seems like a thin rubber gasket or RTV installed at time of roof installation is needed.

It could, but the roof was designed to let the water drain through the inside of the extrusion - I think it's a smart design that just needs some refinements and just sealing with RTV would defeat the point of that.

I need to really get in and look but can you look at the front where the lip hangs down that's supposed to keep it from moving forward. Is it event resting on anything? They added some starboard to set the camper on and the lip presumably on 3rd gens catches but on 2nds gens it's pretty useless. Ideally it would be great to be longer or have a way to anger on the rails. I am curious if others are like that. Mine seems just open to some extent.

Got it. What did they add for the metal? They still added a spacer? I’ll have to look but that looks better than what I think I saw

I asked them about that a couple weeks ago when I emailed regarding our install date ETA. I asked if they provide some type of riser/filler for the front of the 2nd gens.. and what substrate it was (alloy or composite). I could make one easily from some solid stock 6061 or even some square tubing.. if needed.. as I want something substantial.

They do that’s what I have on their now. But since it’s just a starboard or something non fixed the camper is resting on it so that lip doesn’t help. I need to go see but I think it’s enough where if it skid forward it’s not stopping anything

I don't have a filler and I'm on stock bedrails. I'll try to snag a photo this evening.

yeah you guys mind posting similar pictures to what @Coop68 posted? plus mention what rails you're running (factory plastics or other)

I'm on factory plastics and if its just starboard type material... F that. IMO it needs some solid support under there.. if anything just to help with the sealing so its doesnt deflect.

so since i removed my old rails i only have a gap of around 1/8th from my bed to the aftermarket rails. To that front metal section on the bed so they installed starboard on the camper then the bulb seal and they found some 2” 1/8th foam seal and placed it against the front so its fully sealed. Ignore all the silicone i went a little crazy lol

Hmm I think I might try and make a filler beforehand. Make that front edge flush with the factory bedrails essentially

Is the goal for a clean install to have the side rails the same hight as the back rail? My side rails are 1/8” taller so is it necessary to use a filler (e.g. Starboard) or will the gasket be adequate? I’m not interested in some Micky Mouse solution. What is optimal? Thanks
