Does anyone know where I can find a 6500# rated receiver hitch for a 2009 Tacoma SR5 Access Cab? The truck had a new frame installed before I bought it, but unfortunately, they left the old receiver hitch, which is rusting out. My rear bumper is rusted enough that it will no longer pass inspection, so I thought I'd replace the receiver at the same time.

The truck did not originally come with the tow package, but I've added a transmission cooler and oil cooler. I figure if I'm going to replace it anyway, I'd like to go with something rated like the trucks that came with the towing package. Etrailer is only showing 5000# rated hitches for a 2009 Tacoma.

(... and yes, I'm aware that the legal rating of the truck will not be 6500#. I will not be towing at the max capacity except on very rare occasions, and then for short distances and at low speeds - most of the roads I'm on are 35-40 MPH limits, and the typical distance for a heavy load would be 5 miles, 10 miles max.)

All you need is a class 3 hitch that has a minimum weight rating of 6500lbs. You can find those everywhere. Look on the internet, you’ll find a zillion of them.

That's the problem. The only ones I'm finding that fit a 2009 Tacoma are rated at 5000#.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Have some one make you what you want!

Have a heavier hitch modified to fit your frame.

In this day no one ones to rate a hitch to high to prevent lawsuits

I'm just suprised that if Toyota sells trucks with such a hitch, no one on the aftermarket makes them available. The 5000# aftermarket hitches available for this truck also note that they do not fit Tacomas with a factory-installed hitch. (I have no idea why this would be, and I'm not sure if mine is factory or not, since I bought the truck used.)

I have the same problem. Can't find it. Anyone here know how to find it? I've had my truck since new ('09) and it had the 6500 lb. rating from the factory, but the receiver is rusted to the point of failure yesterday and the bumper is pretty rotted too, so I plan to replace that as well. The truck is a SR5 TRD Off-Road with the full factory tow package, 4L engine, 4WD. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
