I'm trying to get my windshield tinted but I have the keyless entry on the windshield and I'm not wanting to have to take it off and pay for the new screen and also the auto glass place to put it back on and I'm afraid that that much water will fry it. Any knowledge or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Also new member. Hello all

Keyless entry is not on the windshield. Not sure what they added.

I’ve never heard of “keyless entry on the windshield” and I don’t know where you’re getting water from when you tint the windshield

That reminds me of the old ford sedans. Payed for or not, I’d delete it.

I would think an experienced window tint installer can install it cleanly around that device. They do that around rear view mirror mounts already.

It's a SE Toyota dealers accessory.

It's the same value add as seat protection, undercoating and pinstripes.

No lie. SE Toyota is crazy. People who haven't dealt with them don't understand. It's like a Mafia got ahold of one of Toyota USA's regions.

BTW, that keypad is in the outside of the windshield. If your tinter uses a laser cutter, he won't need to deal with that keypad at all.

Based on my reading of the situation that is essentially what happened. In a bid to get market share in the 50s, Toyota sold franchise rights to 2 groups in the southeast and gulf states

The keypad sits on the inside of the windshield and works through capacitive touch, just like a phone or tablet screen.

Like others have said, a good tint shop will be able to work around that. Most stuff is laser cut to fit the windshield, and with the size of that keypad it should be no issue to cut the tint around it. I'd recommend finding the closest Llumar Pro dealer in your area and hitting them up.

Thanks for clearing that up. I figured it was like the Ford door pinpad. Couldn't comprehend why it would be on the inside
