Had a guy come into our shop this evening who had a tax stamp approved after he moved from Va to here and he has to go through the whole process again now that he’s stationed here, I feel really bad for him.

On the bright side wait times seem to be averaging 8 months.

This gentleman was told that he had to re-submit the form 4, I haven’t talked to our compliance officer or NFA specialist to confirm though.

If it was approved, you just submit a 5320.20. You can't resubmit a form 4 application once it's approved.

Interesting, so you’re saying he just has to have the can form 3’d to us (done) and submit a 5320.20, wait for it to be approved, and then we can transfer the can to him?

His original gun shop in Virginia wouldn’t transfer it to him because he had already PCS’d out of state and therefore he doesn’t have possession of the approved form 4.

Whoever you spoke to was incorrect. You do not have to engrave a new serial number/model/caliber if using an existing firearm. However, being that you are "making" it an SBR, you are required to engrave makers name/trust name and city/state.

Dunno. I'm out. I have 2 houses. I moved mid form 4 once. After I got my approved form 4 with the old address on it, I sent in a 5320.20. If only a form 3 was done, that's not starting over. If he moved a long way mid form 4 without a way to get it after it was issued, well, that sucks.

Hopefully we can get this straightened out tomorrow, checked on the status of my forms today for giggles after signing them last night, somehow I have a missing tax stamp. The NFA guy swears that he had SiShop charge our account for both tax stamps.

    Yikes. It's always something simple.

I had a dealer put the wrong date on a form 4 and not tell me. The back and forth to correct the error took 2 extra months.... he blamed it on ATF. I didn't see until I got my stamp.

    I hope it’s something simple.

I would be extremely irritated that they didn’t say anything for 2 months.

I think the wait times are around 6 months right now. I just picked up a Mossberg 590A1 SBS. Check cashed on 22 Dec 21 and approved on 28 Jun 21.

Just got my Gemtech G-22 out of jail. six months start to finish. Since my SBR took 12 months, my other suppressor took 10 months, I consider this a win.

Ok guys, I’m just a few months out from my Reesonator K being approved, I’ll be running the Griffin Plan A on it to run my current muzzle devices. My question is, for a short (ish) 556 can should I get the Recce 5 or the Paladin 5? I like the fact that I can run .22 through the Paladin, I currently run an optimus on my 11.5” and it’s nice to just drop in the CMMG conversion and be able to run .22 suppressed.
This can will be (theoretically) for a 13.7” middy build.

I originally planned to get my first suppressor over a decade ago, but as it often does, life got in the way. I finally pulled the trigger today on a Resonator K through SilencerShop. Worst part of the process was the two hour round trip drive to the nearest kiosk…

There are some damn good suppressor kits out there. I bought a 9mm one last summer and couldn't be happier with it.

Filed everything from home, sent the prints in and got my stamp in 17 days.

I'll never do another form 4 suppressor.
