Have gone thru a couple of sets of BFG A/T's & now have 44k miles on a set of duratracs. The Duratrac is better in mud, snow, and rain (wet pavement). They are a bit noiser than the BFG, but not near as noisy as M/T's. I will buy another set of Duratracs over the BFG due to the superior traction, and the BFG's only last a little longer and are a little quieter.

I like the Duratracs so far. They climb pretty good in the sand as well. 264/75/16

I assume you have 265/75/16, not 264???? Do you have a lift on your truck??

I'm looking into a new set of shoes. I'm trying to decide Firestone Destination M/T, Wrangler Duratracs, BFG A/T and M/T's. It seems that people like their Duratracs alot, and the A/T's seem to slide somewhat and not have great grip according to the thread. No one seems to be mentioning the Destination M/T's...I have to assume there is a reason for that.

Pretty sure I'll be picking up the Duratracs in a 265/75/16 size in the next week or two. Just gotta make sure they don't rub.

I'll tell you this much: the Yokohamas that came stock with both the 07 I had and the 08 I now have SUCK ASS!!! I get next to no traction on anything slick, and ended up wrapping my 07 around a telephone pole b/c they are so crappy. Better believe they are going on Albany Craigslist as soon as possible.

To all out there- DON'T BUY YOKOHAMAS!!! you will wreck your truck with them. Not sure why Toyota thought to put such garbage on as stockers.

    Hi everyone,

I wanted to throw in my 2 cents. Just a little background on my tire buying needs.... I am doing an overland trip from the west coast up and then across canada next year. I need a tire that is great on gas, grip, and snow. I also wanted to get a tire that can be studded but then have the studs removed. My choices were Dick Cepack All Terrains, BFG All Terrains, and Good Year Duratracs. I have had the BFG on my truck in the past and loved them, however I recently went out with a local buddy who runs Duratracs on his Tacoma.

Now Many of you guys are asking for pics for looks and want to know how they do in different conditions. I decided to throw a quick little (cheesy) video together of one of our "outings" in the snow. Here is a little set up.

40+ Degrees outside, 3 Feet of fresh snow, back country with absolutely NO prior tracks to follow, Testing them off road, in snow, in the mountains of Lake Tahoe.

If you have a minute, check it out.

I always liked the BFG tires, they get amazing miles, great on gas, great on grip, and great in the snow on the highway.... HOWEVER as soon as you hit 60% or less tread they are really not that great of a tire. I know they are not going to be perfect but they get pretty sketchy on ice and snow. If I was going to run an at tire during the summer and a winter tire I would do the BFG at then run the good year in the winter. But since I am not rich and need something for a full year I am going to do the duratracs on my next tire buy.

Sadly I see many of these people here in Yorba Linda..when i see that i just think of my hot ass girlfriend and it doesn't bother me anymore:D I was planning on running a 33x12.5 16 but my enthusiasm quickly faded as i realized there are not many options in this size..I have heard only good things about www.treadwright.com and will most likely try a set of the "guard dog" tread pattern out in a 315/75 16 for an excellent price

    Duratrac's without a doubt.
They look way more agressive than the BFG's

Screw your tires, nice wheels. ;)

I was looking at Firestone destinations. I went with the Mickey Thompson MTZs instead. Cost a little less actually, they come with factory siping and they look badass.

Having driven them on snow and ice I can say the do really quite well. As good as the BFGs on ice (Which is crap cause only studs really do good on ice) and wicked in the snow. I've yet to see my tires clogged at all since I've had them on.

Have a look at them. They're good stuff. A lot of guys in our club have been running them for a while, they last a long time for an MT.

I have Duratracs on my TRD 17" wheels and they are great tires. My boss has BFG KOs on his Tacoma DCLB. We park next to eachother, so I see both of these tires side-by-side almost daily. I drive his truck once week or so for work (why load up mine with the miles?) and I definitely prefer the Duratracs. They have better traction, especially in the rain. Maybe it's the siping? They look way more aggressive, but are no louder on the highway than the BFGs.

    Duratrac FTW
