Getting the hang of using Vegas Pro as of an hour ago, so this is just a straight up clip & render of going down Devil's staircase...

I'm creeping and you can still hear the tires screeching. Basically I had to just take it down the deepest part of the ruts. :itllbuffout:

Might just bed line it or something. Still not sure. Deciding on exactly where I want to run the power too. Going to pull panels and center console in a bit. Depending on what my horrible Dolphins do in the 2nd half.

I actually worked on the Z today!! I think I got the drivers side all cleaned up and ready to go for the new head gasket. What do you guys think?

I’d wire wheel it some more. Still seeing old pattern of the gasket.

Found some carpet. In the cabinet section of HD of all places.

I do have to sail @TailHook
This spot is a good one for this fridge. Can open and pull baskets, plus being able to reach back and grab a drink. Perfect.

I think there's a disposable wheel that is specifically made to take gasket material off, it's not a wire wheel but rather a big clump of slightly abrasive nubs... called rolocs I think?

Awesome...it's been working out great for me after a bunch of small trips and a few extended ones over some pretty technical terrain (our last trip, especially). Getting it lower by doing the 60% delete was the key for the fridge to be 100% useful in that space.

Probably going to delete the other side here soon...

Thought about that, thinking if I need to toss in a booster for the kids. May make still make one though. Its not hard to R&R the seats.

There is but there was so much leftover material on there I was afraid to just start using one. I wanted to go slow and make sure all that stuff didn't get down in the motor. I may go back over it with one.

Lint free rags. Number them with a permanent marker. And write the number down the ATAF them when done.

    This is not done yet.

You want a 3M Bristle Brush, something like this:

    https://www.amazon.com/3M-Abrasive-...words=3m+bristle+brush&qid=1633358293&sr=8-11

Do not use a wire wheel.

This was my setup while prepping my LM7

[IMG]M3 Work Round 12 by Michael Rickerd, on Flickr

I stuffed rags everywhere. I was also able to flip the engine around and hit it with an air compressor. It also had no oil pan, so I was able to thoroughly clean it out with both air and oil. This was probably overkill because there wasn't any residue in the bottom layer of rags.

Be careful of catching the edge of the brush on any sharp edges. Will snip off a bristle and it will hurt if it hits you (passing this on from a friend).

This is what it looked like to start:

If you have any questions, PM me. Seen folks do shit wrong and end up with a blown HG a few hundred miles after buttoning everything up.

Thanks man!! I appreciate it. It felt smooth and the crap was gone but I wasn't sure. I don't have the motor all the way out or the oil pan off though. That is why I was stuffing coffee filters in the channels and going slow with a scraper on it.

You'll definitely have to pay extra attention since your engine isn't as maneuverable, but a razor blade ain't going to cut it.

If you have a friend and a shop vac, have em put on some ear pro and keep the sucky end near the spinning disc. Should help with the bigger chunks.
