Based on that I should be getting exactly what the rating is regardless of any other environmental conditions on my Tacoma. I must be doing something wrong.

The same happens with our Tacomas although it is way faster to gas up more often. Unloaded I can get 18-20mpg on the highway, towing my 3000lb boat that drops to 12-14mpg. Charge time on a fast charger like the Tesla superchargers is under one hour empty to full. That really just means that my dog will get more walks and time out of the truck on longer trips.

I still think it's a fantastic idea to put a low and high number as the video suggested as it would ease the buyers mind into knowing that no matter what they will be able to make it to the low number and can plan accordingly.

Ford is close (~5 years) to getting solid state batteries. Batteries that charge 80% in 15 minutes, 400 mile range, 1000 charge life span.

In the latest congressional draft “Something for Everyone” bill, there is a $15,000 kickback for EV’s.

I saw a Rivian test R1T on the road yesterday. Nice size, nice looking for the most part. Personally, not a fan of the headlight setup. With the deep pockets backing them I hope they make it into the market, creating competition and offering options.

The only reason Toyota (or any manufacturer) update their products is competition, regulation and cutting cost (value engineering). More competition, better products, better availability.

I do have an F150 Lightning reservation. I’ll decide what happens when they actually send me an estimated delivery. Thinking XLT with the extended range package in that sparkle red paint Ford has.

My son wants my Tacoma so best of both worlds. I’ll borrow it for off-roading or go with him.

You saw that June/July is what they are saying for early deliveries of F150 Lightning? I wonder the same thing about actual delivery time frames based on the massive amount of preorders.

I like the Ford since it comes from a well established company and pretty much looks like a normal truck but if the max range is really only 300 miles like they are advertising I don't think that would work for me.

It doesn’t help that that stated range is with 1000 pounds in the bed which I’m sure most people won’t be driving around with on a regular basis.

It does for people that read - you can infer that the range should be better than published when unloaded. You really have to dig to find where Ford has said that's with 1000lbs extra in the truck.

Obviously you should get more than 300 miles range, if you aren’t driving around with 1000 miles in the bed. It would be more confidence inspiring if they stated the range with a driver and let you infer from that.

Did you read that the 300 mile range is with 1000 pounds in the bed? Is that what you plan on doing? If not, you should be okay because I think it will get more than 300 miles.

I had not seen that - thx for sharing.

I placed my reservation early on the second day of reservations after going back and forth the first day. So, I’m somewhere between reservation 20-thousand and 45-thousand, give or take 10,000 places.

I think 400 miles unloaded is about my comfort point with an EV truck right now. That is enough to allow for pretty easy driving through more remote areas with only slow 115v outlets for charging or to bypass a charger if it isn't working. It should also give enough range to tow my boat to any of the lakes I generally fish at without having to worry about dropping the trailer and finding a charger.

I was out in SoCal two weeks ago visiting family and saw a red Rivian on the 405 northbound near Long Beach. Except for the odd headlights, it looked okay.

I also spent time walking on Huntington Beach near where your photos were taken. Still my favorite beach after all these years. And PCH is the best!
