The rear end of my 2002 Z28 came from the factory with a Torsen dif - same design as a TruTrac. Worked well for the whole time we owned it (125K miles) - definitely powered both rear wheels and held up to the LS1 motor, no problemo. People who have installed the dif in their Tacoma trucks have told me it works seamlessly with the electronic LSD - and they tend to just flat forget about it until they realize 4WD would be a good idea...

Agree with Matt CS, when a rear wheel is off the ground apply a bit of e-brake (or even a little regular brake) and on you go.

The only thing that would make it easier is if our Tacoma’s e-brake was a hand lever.

The good thing is it is ALWAYS there which covers 99.95% of travel. If you REALLY need a locker to rock crawl then only a locker will do. For me, if i go more hard core I’ll add a selectable Harrop (Eaton) e-locker in the front diff. That would be a really trick complement to the TrueTrac in my 4x4.

I have an Harrop e-locker up front with a True Trac rear and works excellent! I thought about going with a Harrop in the rear as well but there's no need down here in FL trails. Taco climbs over everything.

I did both. Depends on the trails you hit. A rear locker is definitely better. I used it more then the front.
