Trouble? I couldn't tell if it was a Kia Soul, Nissan Cube, or Scion I saw yesterday painted up as "The Mystery Machine" dragging a car dolly.

You get any of that flooring installed?

    We went and looked at a small house in Bonfield. I walked outside gagging, telling the agent;

'No I dont want to see the upstairs.'

I swear the cat inside was a zombie, it has 0 fat on it, and smelt like it was dying. omg that was the worst house I have ever viewed.

No flooring installed yet....I have been removing plaster ceilings for the past three days - scraping, sanding, mudding. my entire main floor is a warzone. :anonymous:

Probably a good call to leave that house, you probably would've gotten sick or something. I found those disgusting viewings were a good reminder that the other "bad houses" weren't so bad after all :p

I told the same thing to a coworker earlier this year who is some gen X'er trying to make a proffit.. I wont sell my truck for $60k, nore $80k, nore $120k.

i dumped more time into this truck than it would take me to pay it off again, and god forbid i need to spend more time refiguring out how to re-do the wiring i spent 3 weeks worth of time evolving :bananadead:

ok maybe for $120k... but i want the same year the same colour the same base truck on top of that 120! triple or nothing!
my demands are unreasonable and so is thinking of selling my truck.

Mine isn't for sale and never will be. As long as it runs and it's serviceable, it stays.

Just make sure you store the flooring in a warm garage/ inside the house and let it adjust to the humidity of what you plan of having the house set.
if it's in the garage, don't figure you're good to install it when it's stiff and frozen, so keep a small heater going for at least 2-3 days before installing. Depending on the material, it can shrink and if installed while cold, it will leave gaps and or start to bow.

Thanks for the heads up! It is vinyl and currently inside the house. I was a little worried about how it would handle heat expansion in direct sunlight, as I have a fairly big window in the living room.

The guy at the flooring store just said to leave a gap the size of the floor thickness.

Yeah that sounds about right. the gap is there to let the floor "breathe" much like the rest of the house does when the seasons change/ temp changes.

you wont need to worry about the sunlight/ big window all too much it's not as big of a deal as you think it will be - if something does happen it's not gonna be noticeable unless you have the floor tight up against the walls on all sides.
    peaking-2.jpg
something like the above is more likely to happen when there isn't enough room between the floor and the wall so about at least a 1/4"- 3/8" of a gap between is good, generally as long as the molding covers the gap up you're good.
    2_Before_Wood-Floor-Buckling-Prior-to-Refinishing.jpg
and something like the above is more issues with humidity, but that's more of a solid hardwood / engineered wood issue with poor house maintenance - you wont really get that with vinyl plank.

Also for the love of all that is good - DO NO DRAG STUFF ON THE FLOOR :angrygirl:
the number of times i had to do repairs because a homeowner decided not to lift the table and they just dragged it into place over their brand new floor... Vinyl plank is tough but not indestructible.

    5/16's gap, got it!

I also got some dollar store felt pads for under the main furniture items, especially the dining room chairs.
