I should do this. The dust infiltration on those rear boxes does not do my ratchet straps any favors.

Yeah that would work for a bit, but ziplocks don’t hold up to a lot of abuse. I end up just giving the ratchets a shot WD40 when they start getting crusty. Seems like Toyota could have made them more airtight with just a modicum of effort.

Routed my rear diff breather there so it's easy to access but also out of the way. It's partially sealed up so less dust enters, but it can still drain anything out as needed

I store the air compressor hose.
The other larger box has the ARB compressor, one cylinder.

I wonder if I can make it more air tight by just putting some of that foam weatherstripping around the inside.

Such a worthless cubby IMO. I keep opening the door and thinking what could realistically go in there, shut it, and carry-on with my business.

One day I will find a use for it.

there is a thread somewhere about sealing them up. Essentially you remove them use a short piece of flex loom cut about in a half. Cover each hole with flex loom and seal them up with RTV aka black silicone. I put a bead around the opening to hold them in place then cover the whole thing over with RTV.

If anyone can fit blow AND hookers in that little cubby, they're either doing something very wrong or VERY right.
