    Good day today.
    Got the box built, reinforced.
    Neck sanded and formed.
    All parts “antiqued”
    “Spring Reverb” installed.
Just put first coat of minwax tung finish.
    Will add more coats tomorrow.
Might be able to assemble it Thursday if the finish is thick and hard enough.

You should be posting this build in the wood working thread.

    You should have done this
And you should have done that
    I wouldn’t have used that
    Next time try this

    Naaaa

Figured these are not so common so a little interesting.
Being critiqued on things I know I could have done better with
Expensive power tools is not worth it.

Only reason I suggested it is because wood workers will find it interesting, not to critique you. But it's all good, at least I get to enjoy it,

    Good morning everyone!!

Lynn and I started prepping to extract the honey we harvested from the hives yesterday - giving the area and all the equipment we use a good cleaning. I think we'll actually extract tomorrow or Thursday. Today we'll move the extractor up from the stable.

I got the email I was hoping for yesterday morning from the Civilian Marksmanship Program M1911A1 group - been waiting since I submitted my packet last February and received the random generated number in April. Called right away to tell them what grade I wanted and give them my credit card info - and last night I got shipping confirmation that a WWII vintage .45cal M1911A1 was shipped to my local FFL. They overnight pistols so it should arrive today - hopefully. They have all been through multiple rebuilds and most are mix masters of parts but will be just like I carried as a LT and CPT in my early years in the Army before they switched to the God-awful M9 Beretta. Pics to follow.

    Be safe out there!!

A little something every chance we get.
:pumpkin: Good Morning Porch folks! Yesterday was productive, if not photogenic. Back at it today, with the Yellow Submarine replacement as well. All the "construction" is done on the greenhouse anyway....

And, YES, we want to see the guitar build! A build is a build is a build!

That's why you'll always find me in the kitchen at parties.

Build looks great Mike. I have a few power woodworking tools. I try to keep it simple and have the tools to fix stuff around the home and for simple builds like a shed. Honestly the only place I could even think about setting up a wood shop is in the garage and I would rather have both cars in the garage.

Going to flush the hot water heater today. My arm is a little sore from the booster injection yesterday. Did not start to feel any discomfort till about 10PM last night.

Have a good day today guys and gals.

    First coat of tung oil.
To bad it all got sanded off.
    Now another thick coat.
Shouldn’t be doing it this way as it’s a wax on wax off type but I can’t
wait to add 20 coats in 20 days. So if I can avoid drips I’ll let get this dry enough
By tomorrow and steel wool it and then do the wax on and wax off for a couple of more
days and buff the heck out of it. I think my burn accents came out pretty good.
Filed the bottom section of the box for corner protectors.

Same here. I hate it when I am doing staining projects and my garage side has a project in the space for 4 or 5 days. Better my Tacoma is out in the elements rather than the wifes Avalon.

Your project looks like a fun build. Does it use the E B and G strings?

Ha ha! I have a full wood shop in my basement and the garage is piled high with hardwood lumber most of which I have milled myself. So a car will never go in my garage, lol. My garage is also my wood drying shed.

Ok see if I can screw this up.
My first electronic 3 string uses the lowest 3 strings so E A D ?
It is tuned to open G. So G. D. G.
Since my voice is not hi I figured this would suit me however, this one
    I’m using the smallest 3 so G B E ?
And also tuning to open G.
But this is a experiment and I could go and get a set of strings and just use the
Same as I use on my electric
So I guess if my music theory is right, this one will be an octave higher.
My fingers don’t work that well anymore so I can bar all my major cords.
I can’t play much of anything right now but I use to play 7 different instruments growing up.
I love to build them and I’m having a blast. My first one was scratch built except for the neck.
I tried building one but it was much easier just to get fretted one ready to go.
This one is actually a kit. I wanted one I could just throw it in the back of the truck or just pull it out
and not have to worry about an amp.
So it’s a resonator with a paint can lid and I modded the neck with a couple of springs to add
Some “Reverb”. If I put the neck to my ear and tap it I can hear the reverb vibrating.
    So just staying busy

The problem with me is I like doing a lot of things so everything suffers.. lol
I could really use a 6 car garage and a barn..

    Well, it’s 10 inches wide.
    36 inches long.

    It would work.
I could serenade the animals while I’m fishing.
Mmmmm the bald eagles would go extinct for sure..

    Well crap...

I'm expecting my kids here tomorrow, grandkids too, to put the trusses up on the pole barn. Kids taking time off from work and one family already on the road. I was running a fever yesterday, thinking it was a cold but wanted to check to make sure because neither kid/family has gotten vaccinated.

So I went in to have a covid test and it came back positive.

Called the kids already and they are changing plans.

My wife and I had the Pfizer vaccine in February. No idea where I picked up the bug. We've been pretty diligent about isolating, etc.

Now I'm gonna have to figure out a new plan for finishing the building.
