I wouldn't put that much faith in the consumer reports because they put the Ridgeline at the number one pickup truck second year in a row

My brother sent me some mail on
this truck yesterday. What did the MSRP show for those options because that's the only way I would get it. My brother said 40,000 that's crazy for that truck. Although domestic usually have these final $6,000 discounts on leftovers. I just built the lariat with every available option MSRP came out to 37k. With the usual ford discounts maybe around 34/35 that would be a good number

Shouldn't that F150 be on our ass hole parking thread? No handicap sticker and over the lines. Typical F150 owner. Cant find a spot big enough for that thing.

Here is another image of the F150 Vs Maverick in size. Cabin seams to be more roomy than the Ranger IMO.

I'm sort of interested. If they come out with an EV version for around that price the Tacoma will be out of here. Especially seeing the picture below, I like the size. For My needs the Tacoma is too big.

Gonna catch some shit for this, but selling my Tacoma and placing an order for a XLT hybrid. I use 4x4 MAYBE twice a year, I don't "offroad", and filling the Taco up every 10 days is killing me. 95% of my driving is just me, and I don't need a midsize truck to do the kind of carpentry I do. Plus resale on the Tacomas right now is, well, insane.

You have to do what you need to do but I would do more research before you buy. My brother in law who is a mechanic recently told me to only buy hybrids made by Toyota or Honda. He said the others are nothing but trouble. I worked at a Ford dealership a couple years ago and remember the mechanics snickering at when the hybrid and EVs came in. The one mechanic told me that these people thought they were going to save all that money not having to buy gas but now they are stuck with outrageous car repairs so where did they save anything? I got excited about that new Maverick hybrid but will pass on it. We are in the market now for a new car. Ill probably go with a RAV4 or CX 5 Mazda.

This. One of my employees is replacing her Ford C-Max with a RAV4. The Ford has been nothing but problems since about the 18-month point.

8 year 100k warranty. The gearbox is a Toyota design, so are parts of the hybrid design. I’ll take the risk. If it sucks I’ll get out. Gonna see what happens.

I'm going Ecoboost. I like the hybrid but most of my miles are mountain highway. Should be able to squeeze 30- 31 hwy mpg out of it. My Celica gets maybe 34 on the highway if I don't hammer on it, so won't be too much of a hit.

Ford to Use Toyota's Hybrid Technology - The New York Times (nytimes.com)

I thought the early Ford Hybrids were using Toyota's stuff unless something went wrong. I know Ford and Toyota formed a partnership a few years back to design Hybrid Trucks but it eventually dissolved and they went their seperate ways.

As I understand it, Ford's CVT now is based off the Aisin/Toyota CVT they were using previously. It's a rugged and simple design and is one of their best transmissions reputation-wise. Contrast that to the Power shift dry DCT the Focus and Fiesta were using and it inspires a lot more confidence in me.

Another nice feature of the hybrid is that there's essentially no accessory belt. All of the items that'd normally get turned by one are powered off the battery instead. And as I understand it, the 2.5 has a timing chain instead of belt.

I'm gonna be interested to see how they do reliability-wise.

I think we are going to custom order one when my wife goes back to work in a year, we drive so few miles the cost per mile difference between the Maverick and the Prius are almost nil, and the Maverick is more versatile than the Prius at the a lower price!

I wouldn’t be surprised if you start seeing these at every autozone, NAPA, etc…

If the power plant and CVT are anything like what’s in the Focus hybrid, the thing will be a POS. One of my employees has a 2020 Focus hybrid…and it’s her second Focus hybrid thanks to the first suffering a catastrophic failure Ford won’t explain. The second one isn’t much better - it’s been back to the dealership for multiple electrical issues.

I'd have issues with a car that didn't exist, too. Mostly ribbing you, but I'm certain the Focus was never available with a hybrid (only full electric) and I don't believe there are any 2020 Focus' either... At least not in the US.

If she does have a Focus and it has issues, it's likely the lousy DCT.

The dealership and warranty experience are certainly two demerits to the Maverick, just because it's a Ford.
