How did your fishing trip turn out Scott?

More importantly -- when does the new motorbike arrive?

Met a neighbor when out for a walk this morning, didn't catch his name. Seriously my outdoor time is spent mowing, I was here 11 years before noticing that the 2 trees 30 feet from my kitchen window were Maples. Beyond calling it a lizard (?) I have no idea.
    About 2-3 inches long.

Fishing was so so.. river was up more than norm for this time, and current was moving. A little uncomfy, tbh..I like lower flow and level. The time spent with good friends was priceless.

Bike.. well, let's just say I put that on hold at the last minute. Haven't ridden on daily basis in 20+ years and sort of forgot all that, and a dear friend pointed it out..said I'd lay it down.
Maybe, maybe not..but it's beautiful and I'd hate to be 'that guy' right off the bat.

So, needless to say, I'm looking for something a little lighter to get my confidence back up then maybe a big bike. I think it was a smart move, though it hurt the ego quite a bit.

Better a bruised ego than a broken body. He may well be correct, we guys tend to overestimate our abilities, sometimes folks outside our brain are wiser.

About 4 years ago I was on a roof, not a bad roof really, been on roofs a 100 times before so no big deal, just a minor job.
Then this sign lit up right in front of me -- so bright and clear I could read it just like the words on this screen.
It said: "YOU DON'T BELONG UP HERE!" -- yes, I had a sudden, unprovoked attack of the willies. (I had no close call)

Well, I waited it out - clinging to the shingles for all I was worth - got my heart rate off the rev limiter and waited for the "danger, high BP light" to go out.
I finished my little job and crawled off that roof shaking like a wet cat on a cold day, actually sat down on the ground when I got off the ladder.
I haven't been on a roof (or tall ladder) since.

The moral of the story is: Sometimes you DO need to listen to the voices in your head (or your friends), now and then they know what is going on better than you think.

Yes, I lived that for many years, bled on a lot of equipment -- "lines not turning -- we're not earning". (don't miss it in the least)

yes indeed I really Should have listened to those Voices telling me To run instead of getting Married

I even ignored a Sign from Thor a wicked Ice storm that morning .

It would have been so much cheaper if I would have just run for the mountains

do you have described to a T the exact feeling I had when hanging icicle lights on the second story dormers on the front of my house.

No problem climbing ladders but my days of hanging over the edges of roofs are long gone.

last November is when that happened, we have reduced the amount of Christmas lights that we put up since then.

Damn straight! I had a loose gutter on a two story, 10 minute fix including placing the ladder -- I called a local handy guy and paid him with a smile.

    My ladder days are done.
