TBH I was never a fan of the red wine but this guitar just has a freaking wicked mojo.

 

Probably my fav solid/lucent? color. With very little bleed thru.

 

Thats great. Looking forward to seeing some photos.

These are the only two I have at the moment! This guitar is easily 10+ lbs!

 

Update. I got home from work with the Custom and put on new strings. While the old ones were off I cleaned up the body and fretboard to get the dust off and shine it up a bit. Got the new strings on and it needs an action adjustment. I did what I could with the bridge to get it "playable" I suppose. I'm no expert on setups. The Shaw pickups sound amazing and the thing is insanely resonant unlike any other LPs I've played. It does have a scratchy volume pot and it definitely has a grounding issue with some weird static and getting a radio frequency through my amp. I need to take it for a proper lookthrough and setup. Somewhat a bummer because I just want to play it! Oh well.

This guitar was made by Gibson in Nashville, Tennessee in 1998. It is an "Old Hickory" (Andrew Jackson) model electric guitar, serial #OH-042. The guitar is made using wood from a 275-year-old tulip poplar tree, which is the largest in the state of Tennessee, and hickory wood from a tree that grew in the garden near Andrew and Rachel Jackson's tomb. This guitar is the first in the series of 200 specially made collector's electric guitars and is the first in the limited edition series of custom-made guitars using wood from trees lost in the April 16, 1998 tornado. Andrew Jackson's portrait is inlaid on the headstock, and his nick name, "Old Hickory," is inlaid on a hickory fretboard. An inlay of The Hermitage mansion appears on the pickguard. Both inlays are made of mother-of-pearl.

 

I love the look of the wood on the body.

Whats even funnier is the decription. Mint, not a scratch, only strummed a few times. From private collection.
So the strings probably never been changed.
So he finally got it out of the case, strummed it a few times and said..."damn, this plays like shit, better sell it".
