Luke AFB is on my short list as well (as a ctr/gs). Considering that area post-retirement since my son's in-laws live there and he is likely going to end up in that area as well. Plus, who doesn't like 115 degrees in the shade?

I always laugh when I hear that because 115 is hot as shit no matter how you slice it. Better than humidity for sure, but still hot.

Haha, exactly. I'll take those temps over sweltering in humidity any day of the week. Plus, it is just beautiful out there...especially at sunrise/sunset times. I could go on with all the benefits I see to AZ.

It's really not that bad. I used to run in it. The humidity picks up a little during monsoon season, but it's nothing like here. I'd move back in a heartbeat.

I've been to Yuma enough times over the years to have been stationed there, and I agree completely with your assessment. It really isn't that bad even to run in. Granted, that isn't the Phoenix area, but Yuma gets very similar temps and also the seasonal monsoon flow.

My wife and I have toyed around with the idea of having a small house in the Anthem area in addition to a house in VA. Kind of like being snowbirds, albeit on a slightly more permanent basis.

Anthem, Jerome. Anything outside downtown is worth a look.

I know, I’ve been in extreme dry heat before so it’s not totally new to me. Was in havasu for two weeks and highest it hit was about 130°. It’s still hot tho

I could only think of stained tighty whities for brown on white, but this makes much more sense

Dude. No way. I've done up to 130ish and 70 with humidity in the dark in GA was way worse.

I agree that dry heat is definitely preferable, I hate humidity. But 110°+ dry heat is still hot

I did a work trip to Doha in June a couple years ago. Got up to 134 WITH humidity. It was so bad a light breeze felt like needles hitting your skin. Found out the magic number is 115, anything under that felt good. I would go for a run in the morning when it was "only" 99 deg. I guess it's all a matter of perspective.

Needles hitting your skin? No thanks.
