Frickkkkk dude. Congrats. Those tundras are incredible DD/family haulers. After you’re so used to our little tacomas, getting in one of those 5.7L comfy Cadillac tundras is sooooooooo nice. I agree you need to keep it stock, stay away from lift and bigger tires. But man oh man you gotta put a catback on there and some nicer than stock stockish size AT’s

 

I am so stoked for you. That specific spec is sooooooooo perfect. Such a rad truck & the room in the back seat is unreal. These are such great cruisers. Can’t wait to see the pics of it IRL. But yes, tonneau cover, airbags, hood tires & catback. 10/10

 

Got the transmission built. Was a little bit complicated because it is a two speed selectable transmission. But I got it done!

This’ll do the job nicely. Gonna see if I can pick this up asap, before my next trip. My first trip after all of this work will be 8 hours away and running hard trails. Recipe for disaster.

 

rent a trailer, save money and buy an aluminum trailer

 

None of the trailers readily available for tent will fit Betty, she’s too wide.

 

how wide you need?

 

Like 7.5’ but the most common (read: cheaper) trailers are 7’ and the next jump up is 8.5’

 

yea damn i know what you mean about the jump in price for the 1.5 foot wider trailers

maybe you get lucky finding something used in the future, leaving it outside for the 4 seasons year after year and the less trailer weight carried would be sweet but maybe not all that worth it in the end

 

Used would be awesome but I’m not finding anything locally. And unfortunately 83” is too narrow. Need more like 90”

 

Do you have space on your property for the trailer?

 

Nope, but I have friends that do. Worst case I can pay about $70 a month to store it somewhere

 

Wth does 8 hours take you??

I’ve never done an 8hr stretch in my truck. That doesn’t sound like a good time

 

I did a 9 hour one way (18 hours round trip) cannonball run to Aurora, CO and back to KCMO in a day to buy some cheap sliders. Which I still haven't put on my truck yet.....

We also did a trip sept 2019 from KCMO to White Rock Mountain, AR then down to San Antonio, TX and then to Galveston, TX and then back. That was a fun trip except my wife almost died at the park in Houston.

 

my truck is my dd and is plenty comfortable enough but dang to spend 8hrs driving on road is just not what I’ve built it for. It’s especially apparent when you have a really nice family hauler suv and don’t want To road trip in anything less than that. What happened with your wife?

 

keeping your trailer at a friends house is the way to go!!!
