Hey OP. Here is my bumper saga. Some things to consider

    1. Try trimming hour bumper aggressively to suit your wheeling style/need.
    2. If you remove the bumper but leave the crash guard it looks absolutely horrendous.
    3. I ended up painting my crash guard black and trimming the edges of it & it didn’t look absolutely horrible but still provided an actual bumper.
    4. Running without a crash bar or bumper means the slightest fender bender will destroy your core support and radiator and everything else up there.
    5. I too am not wanting to spend money’s on an aftermarket front bumper so I bought a welder and taught myself to use it. Ended up making a winch tray and chopped the low hanging crossmember while I was at it. Relocating it 6” higher.

This is about as minimal as you can go as far as a “winch tray bumper”. I was fortunate enough to grab a front chop kit from warfab when they made them which gave me all the raw pieces you see there for the makings of a setup. Minus the 1/4” gussets and clevices

For some reason I think that a front bumper is required by law, at least in NY? Not sure how strictly they enforce, but we had to bolt a c-beam on my buddy’s suburban after we managed to pull the OME off.

Ummmm, I've had this for 4yrs now. Used money from insurance money from my 2006 that was smashed by a tree while camping. So, not all blessed with money some others on here. Nice try! Let's start that over and see what you can get on a 2nd round.

With that in mind, if you are in an accident, whether it's your fault or not, the insurance company might deny or reduce the claim when it sees you have no bumper. If that doesn't matter to you, go for it.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I can only say not having a Front bumper is illegal in Pa to be street legal . Then these laws change so often

Which could very well open a big can of worms to the point of having your vehicle put out of service or impounded

I received a warning many years ago ( When Radar was still analog ) the only reason I even know
