    Bringing this back from the dead. Anyone with the TRD PRO hood graphic have the Xpel trimmed out around the graphic? I don't want to lose the satin look and I don't think the hood graphic is available to rebuy to put on top.

    I have the graphics package. I hand wash the truck (no drive threw washes) and use a UV protectant like 303 Spray.

    I’ve seen Mach 1 mustangs with the original vinyl after decades still in decent shape

    Yes, I had the XPEL installer place the PPF over the entire hood and it has the graphics. I also had him do the bed sides as well. I like the glossy look way better.

    do you mind posting some more pics from the hood overhead and up close ? thanks

    was told it might have air bubbles being the graphic is 2mils raised and the Xpel is 8-10mils. Other options are go up half way or have them cut around the graphic. I'm torn I think I like the matte look better.

    Here you go. Full PPF on the hood but I had my installer cut a piece of PPF to cover the bed graphics.

    thank you. looks good. I still prefer the matte look more. I have two days to decide if I cover the whole hood like yours. Cover the whole hood and and have them cut around the graphic (don't know how that will look}
    or just do a partial up the hood. I was told if you go over the decal their could be tiny air bubbles around graphics and if it ever needs to be removed the graphic could possibly be pull up as well. I also don't think Toyota is selling the decal any more.

    The tribal graphics package are not for everyone. I personally love the gloss look better and feel good that the graphics are protected from the elements. My installer works with a local Porsche dealer and does a lot of their new vehicles. Zero air bubbles under the PPF.

    It will self heal to a point "wire brush test". I had about $1500 worth of Xpel put on the front end of a Black Mercedes AMG. Did this to protect against rock chips with their 10 year warranty. Within 2 months I had a nickel or so size rock fly up and put a 1/2 inch tear in the lower bumper cover. No self healing this. I took it back to the installer under the warranty. Warranty was declined. Warranty covers only peeling, fading etc. for the film itself. Not for any tears or damage.

    And by the way. The rock still chipped the paint underneath. $1500 bucks and this low of a protection? Not again.

    I read the first few pages. Love the PPF thread! I got XPEL on the front 1/3, and mirror caps on my E92 M3. I track it occasionally, and it’s paint is pretty mint, considering the average E92 is pretty beat by now.

    I seriously consider doing a partial, or even full PPF on my truck. I love the self-healing nature of smaller issues, relative to doing touch-up, or tedious correction. It’s also far-less maintenance to keep it looking fresh, especially if you park it in a garage or under a cover of some sort. Just carry some wrap detailer and a microfiber in the vehicle for bird poop, and you’re basically covered. I think the longer I put it off, the less motivated I will be to do it on the truck though. The more chips/scratches I get, the less inclined I am to shell out the money. If I were to buy new again, I may go the full-wrap route.

    I have a Tesla Model Y and the guys/gals over there have absolute hard-ons for PPFs. So passionate about it that I drank the kool aid and got the Tesla front clip done. Guy did it for $500 and I pretty much instantly regretted it. Cost-benefit is just not there for me. Around here, it's closer to $7k to fully wrap a Tesla. And another $1k for ceramic which "is a must". I should start a PPF shop.

    I get it, labor to put it on is expensive. Still, that's a whole chunk of change, especially if the car gets smacked in an accident. There's no self healing. For fwiw, the front bra on my Modey Y is holding up.

    Each his own though. I dropped $3k on some Volks and my non-car buddies are busting my balls about it.

    I removed the hood stamp did full ppf and reapplied a new oem hood stamp over the ppf. If you do it the other way its going to create air pockets or dirt lines potentially.

    I would wrap my whole truck if it were not so expensive. A friend of mine has a McLaren that was completely wrapped and then ceramic coated. You would never even know it was wrapped.

    Would have to look it up but it was around $145. There are non-oem options that are significantly cheaper too.
