That’s why I just did 5100s and 887/Dakar’s. Until something breaks, then I will revisit my suspension.

I'm always confused by how many people here run big money King or Icon setups. But you go look at IH8MUD and all the Land Cruiser guys all of them are running basic OME, Ironman or Dobinsons setups.

Yeah if your just doing slower technical trails and your weight isn’t changing much you can get away with running any of those. But if your hitting the dunes or doing any high speed trail running then having the ability to change the rebound/compression for your specific weight and trails is a big plus. And having remote reservoirs is almost a requirement when doing anything at speed. Those guys are typically just overlanding and doing slow/technical trails. Try running a basic shock through some woops or rough terrain at speed and then see how good your shocks end up working for you.

Yes, more people than not install systems they don’t utilize or really need. But there is some of us who actually need the performance that these higher dollar systems are designed for. So don’t knock all of us!

No I don’t have my RTT on my truck except when camping and don’t typically even keep my canopy on when we hit the dunes on the Oregon coast where we have our second home. And never said “high speed” desert running. Come follow us on a trail sometime and let’s see how far you can follow us before you overheat your shocks and are bottoming out your suspension and aren’t able to continue. You would be surprised how quickly you can cook your stock or basic shocks.

Maybe instead of knocking people who spend money on these setups, maybe you should educate yourself on what these systems allow you to do that your basic or “cheap” systems simply can’t.

That's some mighty fine desert running!

OP, the instructions you described don't make sense to me. The amount of threads will vary from truck to truck, depending on weight. There's no way OME could prescribe a specific amount of "threads" to equal a certain lift. Springs are linear in force, for every 1" you compress it, it will produce a specific amount of force. A 3500 lb truck will take less force to "lift" than a 4000 lb truck. Both trucks will require a different amount of coil compression to achieve the same lift.

As other's have suggested, you'll just need to continue to preload the coil, until you attain the desired lift. Now, the threads being screwed up on your one coilover is a different conversation. You'll either have to warranty it with ARB, or live with the difficulty. Honestly, I've heard enough issues with BP-51's that I'd consider your complaints par for the course.

As for the sag... All coils will sag to some extent. I wouldn't be concerned that it happened at 5k, so long as it doesn't continue sagging more and more.

Good luck man! I hope you get it all sorted out.

    Thanks for the post!

Actually OME lists the preload setting by the weight you have added to the truck. The 20mm setting for a two inch lift is listed for 200 pounds of added weight. My winch and bumper weigh less than that yet I’m getting less than 1.5” of lift.

Yeah I think I’m going to be moving on from these. Thinking about trying out the 8112’s when they get back in stock. Just waiting to hear back from ARB before I do anything.

    Cheers

Ok, I'm getting a clearer picture. Yes, they are estimating, but the big hole with that estimation is placement. Having weight between the axles or over the axles is a lot different than a bumper/winch, which is cantilevered over the axle. My wild guess here is that your weight is cantilevered out, so it's not aligning with their estimations.

I've heard good things about the Billies, but they're more "rare" in here. Be sure to post up if you end up giving them a try.

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
I have BP51s, bought them used off @Dalegribble02. They were in great shape so I figured I give them a try. I have 5mm preload on either side and have around 2 inches of lift, no extra weight on the front, it’s stock for now. I do have a winch mount bumper and winch to install, I’ll take some measurements before and after I do it.
The coils from ARB are rated 670lb.
