Nitori's OEM SR Foglight mod!

So I decided to do this to my 21 SR ordered the harness and the stalk. But I couldn’t find the terminal repair wire for it. So I took a chance at two different parts. They both were more or less the same. Just different length and color. But don’t fit. So I rigged the plug by cutting out cavity for pin 26 and was able to fit the terminal repair wire. I’m currently waiting on stalk. But went ahead and grounded the wire/pin26 and found out that you don’t need a switch to turn fog lights on. They turn on when you turn parking lights on and low beams.

 

They don't turn ON without selecting the parking lights. Once ON, they stay ON with parking and Low beams, but OFF once high beams are flashed or selected. Grounding the wire from slot #26 bypasses the fog switch's action.

But since you mangled the connector, no need to try and insert the missing terminal. You'd need a new M6 connector.

 

So… i don’t need to ground that terminal/wire. Just install the stalk?!?

 

If you want to be able to control the OFF while parking lights and/or low beams are selected then, yes.

 

BTW, the wire that you added goes to the connector at the stalk switch and it would require an additional ground wire.

If you sent for the Stalk, you could get a T harness that mates with the vehicle harness and the Stalk. Required wires would on the T harness. You'd only need to place the blue jammed wire you already have to the blue on the T. And the other wire to a near ground location.

Got it done today. Wow that easy. Took me 30 minutes tops.

 

What are the T-taps to? Did you wedge the wires into the connector?

 

T taps are for keyless entry.
The terminal repair cables I ordered worked for the steering wheel column connector.

 

Now I’m debating if I should buy oem fog lights.

 

So expensive! Even on eBay. I can’t justify $400 for some fog lights. They do look nice though.

If you add lights to be on with the fogs switch, t-tap to correct wire from added relay coil ground. The added lights won't turn OFF when HI beams are selected. And also ON without selecting Parking first like OEM fogs.

 

OEM fog lights come up on 3rd gen marketplace for a good price, got mine there like new. If you get OEM I recommended getting the H11 45W wide angle style, not the H16 19W ones.
