Why would you be looking in random cars in the first place?

Drift brake? In a top heavy truck? Sounds like a good way to end up on your roof.

A low slung sporty car is a whole different story...

Didn’t you know? Anyone who doesn’t build their pickup into a race truck is a pussy …..

Sliding on a loose surface such as wet, ice, snow, or dirt is very easy
I take it you've never done it.
A drift brake would help initiate that loss of rear traction easier.

Traction is what flips a truck, not lack of it.

If you're taller than 5 feet it's something you can see out the corner of your eye from a distance

adding a modern disc brake and a way to control it isn't really making a Tacoma a race truck
that may be a feature race trucks benefit from, along with many other vehicles
just like how trophy trucks have Maxtrax on them
Putting Maxtrax on your Tacoma (most already have them) does not make it trophy truck

Used to do it all the time, I'm very familiar. I still play with the hand brake in my lady's VW Golf but I stopped doing it in my own vehicle when I got a Tacoma. Sure traction flips a truck but lift, oversized tires, and higher center of gravity makes it require a hell of alot less traction to do so than something slammed to the ground.

Just seems like a huge waste of money. No matter what you do at the end of the day it's pickup truck, not a rally car.

Thats dope! You running any boost?

And that’s not what I was referring to with my not a rally car comment, was just making a generalization. Slammed trucks and xrunners are sick but not the average Taco, Especially on this site where everyone is bolting as much extra weight on as possible.

Hydraulic e-brake lever in the future?:boink:J/k

Only seen two other Tacomas with rear disk conversions annnd the lever. Both were drift trucks and XR's.

Figured you might have something to add to this conversation. Might also explain the lack of vagina juice trailing behind you. :D

No boost yet, parts are being hoarded for it though. It's actually holding its own against miatas and some c5/c6 corvettes in its current configuration though, so it's not too shabby.

I have looked into disc swapping it, but there's not much for the 5lug. A narrower 4 runner rear axle would allow me to run bigger tires though... hmmmm

SOS Performance used to have a rear disk Stop Tech conversion. Do they not any more?

"I remembered favorably the days of converting my street rod over and its benefits."

Apples and oranges ... comparing a street rod to a brick that goes down the road. I put my faith in the engineering Toyota has gone with for years. I am sure if they felt the discs on the rear were a benefit they would be standard.

    Just my thinking.

Well there is a lot of information to consider here. At this point knowing more about the expense, benefits etc. I have decided to forgo this mod. I am however going to have to do a complete brake job on it so let's change gears a little. I see Power Stop, Detroit Axle, Brembo etc. etc. kit offerings.

What I am interested in doing is a complete Rotor, hub, pad etc. replacement in place of reconditioning. What or where is the best value in reliable quality parts or components? And is there anything that can be done while I have it all apart that will improve on the system? I like saving money as much as the next guy but not at the expense of performance or reliability.

I would appreciate it if those that know would share what they have done and liked on this type of truck.

    Many Thanks,

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
I’ve ran EBC brakes on all my vehicles for years. They don’t make drums or shoes. But their front brakes on toyora trucks have proven to be a worthwhile investment. (And they’re not stupid expensive.) my first gen tacos run EBC greens. The tundra is running orange. And when it gets upgraded will be getting orange again (it’s the towing rig)
