    Haha

I went on a camping trip this weekend. Had to drive trough some water. It was about 2 inches from the bottom of my doors, that’s as deep as I’ll go. Of course my dashcam decided not to work for that section…

I hose it down in the spring after the winter to get any salt and residue off the radiator, engine and all. I'll do it before I'm planning a longish drive. Don't think it's good to leave it wet for an extended period of time.

So you guys hose just about everything down? I would cover the brake fluid reservoir though.

I find myself opening the hood regularly just to turn the light on and look at it… it’s not even detailed. Granted the wheels are always turning

I make sure it's clean prior to taking it in for any maintenance. My theory is that if techs see that it's intentionally clean, they will be more likely to return it clean.

Dust and dirt isn’t a problem for me, it’s the cats that sleep on top of the engine that concerns me.

    d00d, it’s a truck. Don’t you get it? :)

My truck is dirty as hell compared to most people’s truck’s, but my dirt bike buddies used to kid me for cleaning my bike so much. Hah!

I think what separates the tribes is the reason for cleaning the truck. Is it general maintenance to avoid premature failure and to make it easier to work on or is it to make it pretty?

Personally I clean my engine bay, frame, suspension, etc. before I think about cleaning my shiny painted sheet metal.

I clean mine every 6 months or so when I wash my truck. Here is 80K miles. The truck lives in the dirt on the weekends. IMG_9870.jpg

My truck is so clean you can eat off anywhere on it. I never understood the "its a truck, it should be dirty, scratched, dented and half on fire" deal either.

Speaking of cleaning a dirty truck... I’m still getting adjusted to living in an urban environment with a daily driver that I get covered in mud on a regular basis. I don’t have a yard or any other place to wash my truck at home. I have to bring it to a commercial car wash or to a friend’s place 30-40 miles away.

Even the fancy car washes where they hand wash after a machine wash cannot get my truck even close to clean inside or outside. After the last outing, I took my truck to a manual car wash 4 times and it’s still filthy. To get it actually clean, I think I need to jack it up, take the wheels and skid plate off, and give it a very long pressure wash.

At this point I’m willing to pay a good sum to have my truck washed. I’ve done some cursory shopping, but no one seems to offer a dirty truck service. The best shot might be a detailing shop, but I’m not looking to make my truck that pretty and I’m not sure they have the skills to jack it up, take the wheels off, etc...

    Thoughts?

Anyone have some kids looking for a job?
