    I could handle larger taillights if they decide to relocate the Blind Spot Monitor in them instead of keeping them in the rear bumper.

    Oh man. I must've missed the news on that one. I'd be sad to see the Taco become yet another vehicle available only as AT. :(

    The snorkel could be collapsible with two positions. Up sits flush with the a pilar, fold it down to sit level with the hood. Toyota already has that indentation at the top of the fender, the tube could sit there when in the down position. Might as well run power to it so you can raise and lower it from inside the cab.

    Lol at the third gen forum users already mewling about the 4th gen.

    How quickly we forget all the pearl clutching that occurred in this forum when the 2nd gen folks started getting chippy with the beloved (then new) third gen. The 4th gen isn't even fully baked and here come the complaints.

    Exactly, They wouldn't have that much skirting if the y still had leaf springs. Also, exhaust is on the driver side which means fuel tank will be on the passenger side.

    It looks terrible! Why would they put all these padded soft panels all over it and and Hawaiian skirts hanging off the back?!

    Grrr. I miss the good ol' days when body panels were made with real metal, not this government nanny state "safety technology" duvet cover trash!

    Let me guess, it's going to run on unleaded gasoline?! Ridiculous!

    If the next Tacoma looks like the 2022 tundra, I predict they will lose their spot at the top with best selling mid size truck. There are too many competitors in the mid size truck class for people to put up with driving something like that. Its not the same old mid size truck class anymore.
    ===================================================

    This new design Gen-4, is going to make the Gen-3 more desirable over what's new. Is 4 cyl turbos next ?

    well if its any consolation, once the 6th gen 4runner comes out in fall of 22 (MY23) we will probably know what engine the next gen tacoma will get.

    Agreed. No reason for the skirt if it was the same old leaf springs.

    Agreed. I believe all those vehicles will now share a platform, so it makes sense they would share the same (or very similar) suspensions.

    That is my expectation as well, and what I think needs to happen to remain competitive.

    Same. I want a high clearance bumper but don't want to lose BSM.

    Depends on the trails in your region. Some are more likely to break your tail lights than your bumper. The Jeep JL and Gladiator have the BSM sensor in the tail light. Each individual tail light is $500 last I heard...

    The front 3/4 view shows the lower link, first couple of inches before being obscured by the skirting. It's pretty thin, just like on the 4Runner and discontinued FJ:
