You are absolutely correct sir. It is misnamed. The definition has a specific reference to water:

    Definition of snorkel

1: a plastic tube that allows a swimmer to breathe while keeping the head or face under the surface of the water
2: a tube housing air intake and exhaust pipes for a vehicle's engine that can be extended above the water's surface so that the engine can be operated while the vehicle is partially or fully submerged

If it's being used for dust, then dorkel it is :hattip:

All you need to do is what this guy did. Remove body, do a diesel swap, add tire chains, snorkel and you’re done. Instagram is waiting!

snorkels aren't even necessary, if your in water deep enough to submerge your air box your going to have other issues to worry about at that point

Exactly. The air box isn’t even sealed. Your only hope is to keep pushing the water away.

Assuming they aren't leaking.. Toyota's design on those front breathers leaves a bit to be desired. Rubber hose at both ends, but theres a hard line in the middle with the rubber line just pushed on. Two extra failure points to leak. Thats how I got water in my front diff, and how my buddy recently lost his ADD actuator.

And the rear E-locker breather terminates in the cross member. IMO thats not high enough if youre in over the axles. Easy enough to tap it in while extending the diff breather.
